why does tampa do this? penner and malone almost cancel each other out because they both are salary dumps, yet you have a ton of pics going to TB yet they deal away the 2nd and stamkos? this is not happening

Great trade really well thought out works well for both sides...

I think EDM and TB are good trading partners, simply because TB needs a top 4 D-man, something that the Oil have an abudance of...

Okay let's analyze this.
First off Penner for Malone is pretty even however Malone is more grittier, however I think Penner has better hands.

That leaves:
Cogliano+Gilbert+10th Pick+40th+2nd+5th 2010.
for
Stamkos+2nd Pick (Hedman)

What the Oilers give up is probably not worth either Stamkos or the 2nd Pick. Would you trade Hemsky for that package. Cause I sure wouldn't.

If Tampa wanted to drop a Malone for Penner trade I do it. But they probably won't.

Done. A second line of O'Sullivan-Gagner-St. Louis would be too good to be true. All that the Oilers would need is a big LW to fill the top line for the top six to be one of the better sets in the league.

Tampa is not trading Stamkos other than that the value is not that off. Its just not very realistic.

What does this have to do with how good Gilbert and Cogliano are? Its not like anyone would have been surprised if they did make it. Just some internal BS may have caught up with us at the end of the season. But stay classy.:sarcasm:

The sad thing it im not even overrating my players here. Gilbert being under 25 and scoring 45 points is pretty amazing. He's getting better each season, and he played on the 2nd pairing, find me 5 good D that did that. Than when you look at the history of 10th overall picks:

Most of them have made NHL impact/are highly touted prospects, the high pick just ruins this.

I would deal Tom Gilbert for Marty St.Louis and I think it would make sense. Tampa needs major help with their defense and Edmonton needs a top 6 forward, salary is about even.
