2nd
2nd2010

HabsInsideOut 05-11-2009 07:05 PM

...Tampa fans aren't gonna like this...

smokes lets go 05-11-2009 07:05 PM

why does tampa do this? penner and malone almost cancel each other out because they both are salary dumps, yet you have a ton of pics going to TB yet they deal away the 2nd and stamkos? this is not happening

The Pwnerer 05-11-2009 07:14 PM

Great trade really well thought out works well for both sides...

Bunter McVirtanen 05-11-2009 07:22 PM

I think EDM and TB are good trading partners, simply because TB needs a top 4 D-man, something that the Oil have an abudance of...

To TB:
D Tom Gilbert
2009 1st Round Pick

To EDM:
F Martin St. Louis

ShootIt 05-11-2009 07:28 PM

LOL, wut?

You can't be serious.

Okay let's analyze this.
First off Penner for Malone is pretty even however Malone is more grittier, however I think Penner has better hands.

That leaves:
Cogliano+Gilbert+10th Pick+40th+2nd+5th 2010.
for
Stamkos+2nd Pick (Hedman)

What the Oilers give up is probably not worth either Stamkos or the 2nd Pick. Would you trade Hemsky for that package. Cause I sure wouldn't.

If Tampa wanted to drop a Malone for Penner trade I do it. But they probably won't.

If Edmonton's players are that great, then why doesn't the team make the playoffs ?

Rschmitz 05-11-2009 08:07 PM

Being nice here, Tampa Bay says no

Done. A second line of O'Sullivan-Gagner-St. Louis would be too good to be true. All that the Oilers would need is a big LW to fill the top line for the top six to be one of the better sets in the league.

Ya you're right. Tampa is giving up too much.

surshot* 05-11-2009 08:39 PM

Tampa is not trading Stamkos other than that the value is not that off. Its just not very realistic.

What does this have to do with how good Gilbert and Cogliano are? Its not like anyone would have been surprised if they did make it. Just some internal BS may have caught up with us at the end of the season. But stay classy.:sarcasm:

The sad thing it im not even overrating my players here. Gilbert being under 25 and scoring 45 points is pretty amazing. He's getting better each season, and he played on the 2nd pairing, find me 5 good D that did that. Than when you look at the history of 10th overall picks:

2008- Cody Hodgson
2007- Keaten Ellerby
2006- Michael Frolik
2005- Luc Bourdon
2004- Boris Valabik
2003- Andre Kostitsyn
2002- Eric Nystrom
2001- Dan Blackburn
2000- Mikhail Yakubov

Most of them have made NHL impact/are highly touted prospects, the high pick just ruins this.

I would deal Tom Gilbert for Marty St.Louis and I think it would make sense. Tampa needs major help with their defense and Edmonton needs a top 6 forward, salary is about even.

BTW your comment made absolutely no sense considering what the topic was about ...

Predsrule 05-11-2009 08:55 PM

love to know why he added that 5'th lol

Your whole comment right here has nothing to do with the topic either.

By looking at the title of this post, "OILERs TAmpa", I knew it was not going to be a very good proposal. Just a hunch....

Without that there's no way the Lightning do this.
