Colorado - Los Angeles

To Col:
Tom Preissing (2.750)
Jack Johnson (RFA) (Previously 2.150)

To LA:
Scott Hannan (4.50)
Darcy Tucker (2.25)
'09 3rd Round Pick (63rd overall)

Revamped deal:

To Col:
Johnson (2.15) [RFA]
'09 3rd (?? overall)

To LA:
Wolski (2.80)

---

LA gets a solid defender in Hannan and rid themselves of Preissing. Tucker sucks, but he's only signed for one more year. The 3rd round pick is compensation for taking on additional salary.

Colorado gets a chance to develop a former 3rd overall draft selection, and rid themselves of Darcy Tucker. I also think Preissing can be effective if put in a new surrounding. Colorado also saves about 2 million in salary (once Johnson is re-signed).

Flame away. :dd:

Why? Johnson blows ass right now. -42 in his 120 game career, and only 9 goals to go along with it. This trade is a gamble for Colorado, not LA. At least they get an established #2 defenseman. Oh, and find me some LA fans who want Preissing.

That's what I thought.

as an avs fan anytyime any day

JMFJ 3 06-04-2009 08:20 PM

LA politely declines.

LA will keep JJ for this trade.

Fair enough, but I think we can at least agree this trade isn't that far off in value.

JDM 06-04-2009 08:24 PM

Kings ONLY trade Johnson for scoring.

Let's talk Wolski or Svatos.

Legionnaire 06-04-2009 08:25 PM

You forgot to include the 3rd overall. Thanks.

How about something like:

To LA:
Wolski (2.80)
Svatos (2.05)

To Col:
Johnson (2.15) (RFA)
'09 2nd (35th overall) or '09 3rd (65th overall)

?

Take out Svatos and make the 2nd a 3rd and I'd consider doing that. Wolski plays LW/C right?

I think the 2nd rounder would be enough for Svatos, but we don't have room for both and I want DL to keep the 35th overall, or try to move it up.

Although now that I think of it, I don't think LA has the 65th overall, I think we have a 3rd but that it came from someone else.

Hannan? Colorado's best defensive defender is getting run out of town? Since when?

LA would do that trade in a heartbeat.

Yeah he does. He played center this year, but LW the two years before this one.

Kingjordan 06-04-2009 08:34 PM

I think I threw up a little ... that was bad

hmmm...

Wolski-Stoll-Brown is not a bad 2nd line.

It could be equal, but we don't really want to trade potential for potential... looking for potential for talent at this point

If Johnson blows, why on earth would Colorado want him?

The reality is, for significant stretches of the past 2 seasons, Johnson has been LA's top defenseman. That doesn't say that much - given LA's core (particularly 2 seasons ago) but the guy is hardly a bust. He is progressing and well on his way to be a top pairing, if not #1, defenseman.

LA will not be 'dumping' Johnson. If he goes, he goes for quality scoring. And I don't see a fit with Colorado. Perhaps if a swap of firsts and Wolski is in the deal.

You clearly have not watched Johnson play. Ever.

Oh yes, +/- is the perfect indication of skill...

We don't want a softie on our team like Wolski

Because he's only 21, and the reason he blows is the way LA has been using him. LA is deep defensively, but in Colorado he'd likely get the top power play time with Liles to show if he can be the offensive dynamo he was made out to be when he was drafted.

I've watched him play many times. He isn't given alot of offensive chances, and isn't good in his own end.

Doughty was clearly better than him last year, despite being a rookie.

AKAY47 06-04-2009 09:24 PM

To LA:
Wojtek Wolski
Marek Svatos
3rd Overall

To COL:
Jack Johnson
Teddy Purcell
5th overall
35th overall
