Hmmm, if there is no new player transfer agreement after a new CBA is negotiated, thje interest in Euros as players would, I presume, plummet. I wonder if that would raise the level of collegiate & junior hockey in North America, based on the assumption that many Euros would play here for the chance to sign with a NHL team?

I dont think it will affect interest in Euros one way or the other. Rich teams will pay more for the players. I mean $100,000 is really chicken scratch when all things are considered. If the fee is too much, the NHL team just has to wait until the Euro contract runs out. Then they are free to sign anywhere. I think there is a thread on this on one of the other boards and one poster said Buffalo did this a few times with European players.
