Jeremy Rutherford is the Blues beat writer, so he is legit.

tmac1919 06-19-2009 03:16 PM

Man this was a big day in the NHL! A good signing by the Blues, keeping an experienced veteran on a young, upcoming team.

TheGooooch 06-19-2009 03:16 PM

Good for them. They made some great strides last year.

HawksTillDeath 06-19-2009 03:17 PM

finally some news coming out after the finals

Scrambllllle 06-19-2009 03:21 PM

No surprise

Randall Ritchey 06-19-2009 03:32 PM

No surprise.
I'm pleased.

Pick87your71Poison 06-19-2009 03:35 PM

Good signing for them. The veteran leadership is an important presence on a team full of youngsters.

vipernsx 06-19-2009 03:35 PM

Good guy to have around a young locker room for another year. Nice signing.

Great deal for the Blues.

HawksTillDeath 06-19-2009 03:52 PM

This deal for these numbers tells me that they are going to be players this offseason for someone..

Only a backup

I could see them going after an high profile forward.
maybe Kovalev, but hes not necessarily the kind of player i'd want around the youngins.
probably also going after the likes of a Pahlson or John Madden

Oshie97 06-19-2009 03:57 PM

Glad to have him back for another yr and at a fair salary. He deserves to retire a Blue.:handclap:

HawksTillDeath 06-19-2009 03:59 PM

im just guessing.. they have about 13 million in cap space

less signing their own RFA's

Crombeen, Woywitka

and Tkachuk (at the 2)

Bring up Pietrangelo..

between that i'm assuming your going to have about 7 million left to get a real impact player

i assume they wont do anything long team since the year after they have to sign another 3-4 guys

Oshie97 06-19-2009 04:00 PM

We also have to resign Polak but we do have alot of cap space left.

Burnaby_Joe* 06-19-2009 04:01 PM

Great deal!

do you think they will spend to the cap? They have been near the bottom of the league in revenue the past few years.

BlindWillyMcHurt 06-19-2009 04:03 PM

Excellent (re)signing for the Blues at a very reasonable rate.

Lucbourdon 06-19-2009 04:03 PM

Only 2.15? holy crap sick deal

SkullSplitter 06-19-2009 04:04 PM

Good news for the Pens if they intend to sign Guerin.
