Quick question regarding a Flyers prospect...
Just a question about Maine Forward Colin Shields, he has been playing well this season for Maine and has been selected for the Great Britain squad for the World Championship pool B championships later this year in Norway.

He has 17+26=43 for the season and leads Maine in points, what are his prospects in the Flyers system? will he sign for you next season and play for the phantoms in the AHL? or are there other NHL teams interested?

Will he be signed to play for the Phantoms once his season at Maine has finished (hopefully they will be succesful in the frozen four), if so he will not be able to play for Great Britain and this would be a huge loss!

Thanks in advance for any response...

He'll probably be signed by the Flyers and play for the Phantoms next season. If not, he'll at least attract interest from other NHL teams.

I don't think the Flyers think of him as any more than an AHL talent with limited NHL upside. Not very big, and already 24 years old.

Maine plays Wisconsin (Shields vs. Bruckler) later today with the winner advancing to the Frozen Four. I might tune in after the Flyers-Rangers game. If I hear anything about Shields and his future, I will pass it along.
