I'm wondering if anyone can provide any information on Tomas Jurco?

The Saint John Sea Dogs just drafted him in the CHL Import draft and i'm wondering if he decides to play here what we can expect?

Also if you have any pics or clips of him playing it would be appreciated.

First of all, I have to say that I haven´t seen him personally, but I do have some info.

This is from czechexpert, a member on here who doesn´t speak this positive about prospects often, so Jurco should be the real deal:
Jurco is scoring winger with size, speed, good hands. Drives the net hard and has good scoring touch. Strong competitor and finishes his checks.

He led the Kosice U20 team in scoring and you have to consider the fact that most kids his age were still playing the U18 league, for example I think that even Tatar played the U18 league at his age. Also Kosice finished 8th after regular season and they had to play against Trencin, the best junior team in the country that was filled with 88 borns and 3 89 borns while Kosice had mostly 90,91 and even some 92 borns and Jurco scored 4 goals in game 2 to keep them in the series, though they lost in the end.

He also played for Slovakia at the U17 WHC and the EYOF, but he also was a member of the U18 team for most of the year and was tied for the best scorer on the team with 5 points in 6 games at the U18 WC.

He´s top Slovakian prospect for the 2011 NHL draft and right now it looks like he could go top two rounds.

It´s quite impossible to find photos/videos of Slovak prospects if they aren´t playing in the men´s league, but he´s the kid on the right in this picure, I can´t find anything better:

Apparently this is also him. Some pretty nice moves although useless in matchplay. Anyway, if you are skilled enough for stunts like this you should be skilled enough for anything. Check out the video below

Not sure what "useless in match play" means. He was one of the best U18 Slovak players this past year despite being almost 1993 born.

I mean the tricks that you can see in this video can never (or almost never) be done during a competitive hockey game...

Just thought I'd stop back if give you guys an update on Tomas Jurco.

He's has been excellent all year after starting the year primarily on the 4th line he's improved his defensive game a lot and definitely hits a lot more too. He has since worked his way onto the 2nd scoring line and is doing a great job there fitting in perfect! With the depth at forward for Saint John playing on the 2nd line is very good!

As as last night he has 24 goals & 25 assists good for 5th on the team in points and 4th in goals. He's also 5th in the QMJHL among rookie points and 4th among rookies in goals scored. He's also 1 goal shy of the single season record for rookies currently held by Chris Didomenico.

He has great hands and loves to dangle! I'd be shocked if he was not on the World Jr squad for Slovakia next year!

That shootout goal btw made it on TV over here as well, supposedly it was on TV Markiza sports news sometimes this week, unfortunately I didn´t get to see it.

The one thing I´m really sorry about is thta he´ll miss the U18 WHC this year, we could really use him.

As for the WJC, he´d really have to struggle big time not to make it next year, especially now that Tatar and Viedensky aren´t eligible anymore.

maybe he will go to U18... Playoff is like another season... remember last year Vancouver Giants and Calgary Hitmen in WHL...

Sea Dogs win 7-4 in Game #1 & 7-2 in Game #2 to hold a 2-0 lead in the 2nd RD best of 7. You also might be familiar with #3 for Gatineau Adam Janosik very good young defenseman.

Thanks for those clips! Good to see Jurco still doing well. Regarding Adam Janosik, he seems to be piling on the goals these playoffs, 5 in 9 games for a rookie defenceman. Hope he gets drafted!

He's been getting better as the season went on. I am beginning to become a believer. I say 1st round NHL draft 2011 and hope he makes it count in the NHL

Just thought I'd share an update on Tomas Jurco ...

He's been playing great again this year collecting 6 goals and 3 assists in 6 games so far this season. He has changed his number this season to #13 from #91. I guess this is a number he's always enjoyed it's just kinda looked at as bad luck over here but given his current start I'm sure it's not bad luck for Jurco! :yo:

He was just featured on TSN last night ... Unfortuntely he doesn't has 6 goals and 9 assists ... he only has 3 assists for a total of 9 points in 6 games :yo:

In my opinion, HES VERY OVERRATED, if you notice, combine skill and points, he doesn't get much, hands always makes a player overrated, has very low points in the QMJHL? weakest out of the three CHL teams. I doubt hes gonna a star, hes alot like Jussi Jokinen, has sick hands but the speed isn't that good.

If he becomes a Jussi Jokinen, who is very effective in the NHL, that'd be considered a success.
