haha,. good fit IMO, they need big tough centres with gomez as your top line centre

Hale Dawerchuk 07-01-2009 01:30 PM

What did you just call Antropov?

:P

Ross MacLochness 07-01-2009 01:30 PM

Boo.

The Expert 07-01-2009 01:30 PM

He's soft and inconsistent, he'll fit right in.

Antropov isn't tough and for being 6'6 he plays like someone who's 5'10.

Quagmier 07-01-2009 01:33 PM

The Habs are like those lawyers who have adds on late night infomercial TV...

"Are you soft? inconsistent? underperforming and overpaid?

Then call Bob "The Hammer" Gainey! I won't stop until you have a 5 million dollar deal! I WILL NOT REST until you have the contract you don't deserve...

John-Eric Iannicello 07-01-2009 01:33 PM

Antropov would be a great fit depending on the contract.

He may not throw his body around with authority but he sure knows how to use it (i.e. protecting the puck, board work).

KAPOW 07-01-2009 01:34 PM

5 million per ? fits well with gomez

:D

TheLeastOfTheBunch 07-01-2009 01:35 PM

I think he would do solid as a Hab !

YMCMBeaulieu 07-01-2009 01:35 PM

Haven't CKAC mentioned the Habs being interested in like 90% of the UFA forwards so far?

Frankc 07-01-2009 01:38 PM

Renaud Lavoie report that it's not Montreal interested in Antropov, it's Antropov that would like to play in Montreal.

Playmaker09 07-01-2009 01:38 PM

Sure but then Pleks must be traded for a Dman

Mason530 07-01-2009 01:39 PM

NYR should give Habs Zherdev as well. They can have the whole Rangers line.

Exactly, once again, the rumor is false.

Apparently, Antropov wife loves Montreal. It's unconfirmed right now if the Habs are interested but Antropov would definitely be interested to play for the Habs.

Unless Gainey is going to go with plan Z, I don't think it will happen.

He needs to keep the focus to sign Beauchemin, Havlat/Gaborik and Kovalev/Tanguay. If he can only sign one of the last four, I think (hope) that Gionta would be next on his list. Then (I hope we won't be forced to go there), Antropov could be an option but not at 5M$ per.

Well maybe we can get Antropov at a discount if he (and his wife) wants to play here.

Antropov at $3.75M for 5-years would be fine by me. And not as a Plan B.. the guy is a good player. Even though he's slow, if you watch him, he works hard. He digs, he goes to the net, and he'll play in front of the net which is exactly what we need. Size. He's got it.

Some nights, it looks like he doesn't care... I really hope that Gainey will look elsewhere and take him only if he doesn't have any other options...

Bigshot51 07-01-2009 02:08 PM

Definitely can see him going there, especially since there's nobody else signing there.

And you know this how :shakehead
Only big FA to go so far is Hossa....still plenty of time left

blasimon 07-01-2009 02:15 PM

Apparently, there have been no discussion between Montreal and Antropov (according to his agent).

cedouimet 07-01-2009 02:16 PM

I would take him on a 3-4 years @ 3.5 per
