New ice rinks in Spain!!!
Next Universiada 2015 will celebrate in Granada (Spain), so will be a ambitious project to build three rinks between 1,000-3,000 seats. The best, Granada Sports Palace, with 7,000 seats :amazed:

You can see the candidature dossier here about ice sports:

Also city of Torrevieja (near Alicante) announced an ambitious project for a new "ciudad deportiva" (city of sports) that will include also "a spectacular Ice Palace" (according to major's words) for icehockey and skating.

Welcome Hockey!! :handclap:

Hockey has been around in Spain for a while now, but hopefully this can give it a shot in the arm.

The big question is, as the league develops, do they emphasize speed and skill like their fellow mainland leagues, or do they emphasize line brawls like the U.K.?

Not sure what this is going to do for the sport of hockey in Spain. Basically, one 7000 seat facility will be for hockey. Where are the players coming from to play there? There is nowhere that one sheet of ice can produce enough players to compose a team that would be worthy of playing in front of crowds of 7000. Sounds like the big picture was not thought of when developing this complex. Once again, there needs to some attention paid to development at the grass roots.
