if true this is interesting

Zubrus Coffee Maker 08-04-2009 11:04 AM

is he going to be ufa?

WJG 08-04-2009 11:05 AM

He either gets his 4.75 million/year or he plays in the KHL.

Jeffler 08-04-2009 11:05 AM

Yes. As predicted, the Rangers are walking from Zherdev's award.

Can't say I blame them, but someone will give him that money, and he likely just drove the prices down a bit on Sykora, Tanguay, etc.

He doesn't get $3.9?

shaner89 08-04-2009 11:06 AM

Mismanagement by the Rangers.

Vitto79 08-04-2009 11:06 AM

rrrrrrrrrrrrrough

oh well time to move on

Dark Knight 08-04-2009 11:06 AM

I'd take him for around 4.2 on a shorter term deal, no longer than 2 years, for Toronto.

I'd rather take a chance on this guy and let Wilson evolve him as a player.

No, he's a UFA now. He can negotiate whatever contract he can.

mooseOAK* 08-04-2009 11:07 AM

It's looking like Zherdev and the NHL just aren't a good fit.

Yep. They couldn't even get a low draft pick for him.

lundy 08-04-2009 11:08 AM

Dude's gonna bounce for the KHL unless someone overpays him.

Oh well, he's got so much potential, so in that regard it's a bummer to see him go.

But I won't miss him doing 4 spin moves at center ice, and then losing the puck, instead of passing it.

MrEctions 08-04-2009 11:08 AM

Good move, get Dubinsky signed up and go to war.

If Hitchcock or Torts couldn't "evolve him as a player" I doubt Wilson can. I don't have a hard on for Torts or Hitchcock or anything against Wilson. I'm just looking at history.

Fictional Realism 08-04-2009 11:09 AM

It was Zherdev or Dubinsky - no brainer here.

Nunymare 08-04-2009 11:09 AM

No shocker. I wonder if he'd stick around in North America, or go to the KHL.

Theon 08-04-2009 11:12 AM

and i loved that trade....................

Nothing for nothing---that's what Z did for us.Good luck to every other team out there looking to get him---my guess is no one gets him for 3.9 million it will be 4.5 or KHL.

hototogisu 08-04-2009 11:14 AM

Anybody surprised?

Zherdev is the kind of guy that fans drool over but coaches and GMs don't.

captain9nyr 08-04-2009 11:16 AM

You know, just for the record here:

Just because you're the smartest kid in remedial math doesn't mean you're a genius.

Translation: Just because you tied for the team lead in points on a team that couldn't score doesn't make you a superstar.

I'm done with this topic. He's gone, we've got cap space, we're moving on.

NHLcrazy 08-04-2009 11:16 AM

wow the Rangers really thought he would sign for 1-1.5 M$ ??

oh boy losing a fine player for absolutely nothing...why don't they sign him and trade him???

The Rangers were one of the lowest scoring teams in the league just lost 3 of their top 4 point scorers of last year, they added Gaborik but i doubt he'll play more than 60 games...

Terrible management.

because they needed the cap room, and unless he's getting traded for picks, salary is going to have to come the other way
