Rangers Prospect #19

David Kveton finally made it onto our list as #18. We might all look really stupid if 2 months from now he's our top-9 forward...

Dale Weise got voted onto the list.

I think that the voting for #19 will be close, but a lot of people might be very happy with the guy who should be easily added to our list for the next year.

TOP PROSPECTS

1. Artem Anisimov
2. Evgeny Grachev
3. Michael Del Zotto
4. Bobby Sanguinetti
5. Ryan McDonagh
6. Derek Stepan
7. Matt Gilroy
8. Chris Kreider
9. Michael Sauer
10. Ethan Werek

SECOND-TIER PROSPECTS

11. Tomas Kundratek
12. Dane Byers
13. Ryan Bourque
14. Brian Boyle
15. Corey Potter
16. Nigel Williams
17. Ilkka Heikkinen
18. David Kveton

add horak

Garfinkel1 08-07-2009 09:47 AM

Anyone else think our top 15 are all possible NHL starters?

*I mean, 5 years from now I can see all 15 of them in the NHL (Maybe not the Rangers though...)

Trxjw 08-07-2009 09:51 AM

Valentenko add Zaba

I hope so considering we should expect three or more on the team this year. After this year, some of those 10-15 guys may end up being top 10.

BrooklynRangersFan 08-07-2009 10:00 AM

Hagelin. Add Gaulton.

Jarkko Immonen 08-07-2009 10:00 AM

dupont, add zaba

Our top 35 are all *possible* NHLers, and among our top 15, I think everyone except Bourque has a 50-50 chance or better to make it.

Do I think all 14 will make it? Probably not. But at 50-50, if we get 7 guys in our top 15 and another 3 guys in the following 20 (16-35), we are golden.

We all have a good young base with Staal, Girardi, Dubi, Cally... I just remembered they just gave up Zherdev and now I am pissed again.

Who knew 10 months ago that we would lose both our Russian wingers, Cherry and Z, without getting anything for them. (The pick we got for Cherry went for Ant, who was also lost.) Dawes and Prucha also both busted. Last year, we had hopes that at least one would become a decent winger.

Other than Cally, Kreider and Grachev, we don't have much in the way of potential top-6 wings going.

I guess you're not very high on Bourque?

I like taking players like him in the draft. I would've preferred him in the 4th, but I can live with him in the third.

You take Purinton, even if he pans out, you still get nothing special. But if you take Bourque, you may have wasted your third round pick or you will get a first line forward.

That said, I think almost everyone will agree that he's under 50-50 to make it. Since he's going to play on the top 2 lines or not at all, had he been 50-50 to make it, I am sure he'd have gone at the end of the first round or at least in the second round. No way would he last to the third round.

Players who need to be added in the next few rounds in my opinion are:

1) David Skokan
2) Mitch Gaulton
3) Max Campbell
4) Tomas Zaborsky

we want cup 08-07-2009 10:23 AM

Tank, add Horak.

Thordic 08-07-2009 11:07 AM

Valentenko, add Gaulton. If Mitch rehabs properly and catches up, he'll be much higher in these polls next year.

nyr2k2 08-07-2009 11:11 AM

Hagelin, add Zaborsky.

RangerFan10 08-07-2009 12:04 PM

Dupont, Add Wiikman

eco's bones 08-07-2009 12:23 PM

Valentenko. Add Campbell. I like Zaba as well but he strikes me as at best backup goalie material. I don't know a lot yet about Horak--but hopefully he makes his mark soon. Campbell has had two pretty college seasons and could possibly really break out this year.

Look for McDonagh to be rated at least #3 in HF's top 20 prospect ratings for the Rangers. That is, if he isn't traded between now and when they redo it. He is more highly touted than Sangs or MDZ.

NYRFAN218 08-07-2009 01:03 PM

Hagelin, add Zaba.

Thefalkon 08-07-2009 04:14 PM

Valentanko, add ZABORSKY :)

darko 08-08-2009 03:29 AM

Went with Tank but it's close between him and couple more. Add Zaborsky...

vipernsx 08-08-2009 10:42 AM

Hagelin, add Gaulton (he's gonna have success this year and move way up in the polls next year)
