Forsberg attempting another comeback

Quote:

Peter Forsberg is back on the ice with his Swedish club Modo.

The former Avalanche star tried to make a comeback in the Swedish elite series in February, but played only two games before his injured foot forced him to cancel the rest of the season. But Forsberg is not giving up.

On Thursday night, when Modo played the first game of a preseason tournament in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, against Geneva, Forsberg was back on the roster.

Wearing No. 7 instead of his usual number 21, the 36-year-old Forsberg played center on the first line. He didn't produce any points, but was on the ice when Modo scored the first goal of the game. Modo eventually won 2-1.

He reported no issues with his foot after the game.

Cue the Forsberg to the Flyers rumors.

Flyers waives jones, calls marshall and sign Peter forsberg at the deadline and we win the cup! Go flyers! ;)

NoamHemsky 08-28-2009 08:18 AM

Peter, do yourself, and everyone else a favour, don't even bother.

You're broken, kid.

AtlantaWhaler 08-28-2009 08:21 AM

He's a rookie...right?

The dude wants to play hockey, are you going to fault him for that? It's not like his want to play hockey has a negative affect on you, or anyone else. I have a seriously hard time disliking the dude for trying everything he can to play, I think he deserves credits for that, not discredit.

Who says I dislike him?

His body is sending him strong messages that his brain apparently doesn't want to hear.

I'm not sure why you are being so melodramatic?

if teams would only offer these guys the league minimum this nonsense would stop ..same with sundin ,,,,,they just aint that good anymore .i bet even the players that work their nuts off get tired of these money grabbing comebacks .

yeah, forsberg isn't playing for the money anymore. he's not playing for peanuts, but he just wants to play at this point. definitely one of my favorite players ever, i don't think i could say no if he wanted to play for the flyers again. he can still be a contributor if his foot is in good shape.

Play a year in Sweden first and prove you can stay on the ice for a whole season. He couldn't even do that during the lockout.

Last time he came back he was arguably the best player in the NHL during the small stretch that he actually played. He's unbelievably good still.

Peter Forsberg is not Mats Sundin, he is still a good player and he would be able to contribute this season.

exactly.

CanadianFlyersFan18 08-28-2009 12:02 PM

I would take a healthy Peter Forsberg on the Flyers any day of the week. It would bee a sure thing he plays behind Jeff Carter and Mike Richards.. or plays on the wing which would give Danny Briere to centre a line.. Oh and if he is healthy that makes Team Sweden that much better imo

Very well stated and I agree 100%.

ugotmybeef* 08-28-2009 12:07 PM

take Allison with you.

The Mars Volchenkov 08-28-2009 12:08 PM

Forsberg's no good anymore? Even in his later years he was putting up a PPG, and had 14 points in those 9 games he played with the Avs.

Until he proves otherwise, the people saying he's just not good enough are spewing out crap. The guy can probably still get it done even on one foot.

Peter 08-28-2009 12:15 PM

Forsberg wins the face-off and dishes it back to Kesler on the left side.

Kesler passes across the ice to Sundin.

Sundin shoots...he scores!!!

:)

PlantersOye 08-28-2009 12:17 PM

Philadelphia will take him.

Week before said game:

Kesler traded to Flyers for Carcillo and 5th round pick in 2054

Sundin is actually Matt Sundin, the Swedish 10th round pick for Philly in 2003.
