That would be an excellent move...

MrNasty 08-29-2009 05:53 AM

that would be great. Let's hope his heel is fully recovered.

Lang nor Plek solve our second line center problem.

Dan K 08-29-2009 08:36 AM

I would love Lang back, but I don't see how we fit him under the cap. Even if he's willing to sign for like $1M - $1.5M. We'll still have to move someone (BGL? O'Byrne + Metropolit?) to make room.

But, just for fun...

Cammalleri - Gomez - A. Kostitsyn
S. Kostitsyn - Lang - Gionta
Pacioretty/D'Agostini - Plekanec - Latendresse
Moen - Lapierre - Stewart

Maybe something like that... looks like quite a good team. Sergei had his best moments on Lang's wing last year, and he provides a playmaker for two shooters on his line.

We have 3 2nd line centers if Lang comes back, so it's not a problem at all... the problem is on our first line.

Gomez is not a 1st line center, he's just a younger Saku.

The Nightman 08-29-2009 08:41 AM

I would like this. There is nothing to lose.

Marc the Habs Fan 08-29-2009 08:52 AM

For all we know the ''speculation'' could be the writer scrolling a message board like this one and seeing fans wondering if it can happen. There's been nothing in the Montreal media about it.

David_99 08-29-2009 09:10 AM

Nothing wrong with some depth. A try out can't hurt. Maybe it'll push Plecks a little harder.

I like the part in the article about Max and Lats taking intense power skating lessons together. Adding a little speed and maybe more chemistry from last year might prove incredibly valuable to the Habs this year. I hope every young Hab has spent the Summer improving on their shortcommings.

Habs 4 Life 08-29-2009 09:18 AM

Great move if true, nothing to lose and Robert was our best player at the time of the injury, nice little way of rewarding him

Anytime.

Sports1131 08-29-2009 09:38 AM

A tryout? I'd be thrilled to have Lang back, but I can't believe there isn't another team out there willing to offer him a contract.

Habsfan18 08-29-2009 10:13 AM

I'd be thrilled if this is true.

Patty Roy 08-29-2009 10:15 AM

Hey why not i'd be all for it. He seemed to enjoy his time here last year so he would probably welcome coming back here if he's properly healed.

Em Ancien 08-29-2009 10:16 AM

Oh man, would that be awesome.

Great on the powerplay, which would give us a great right handed shooter. Seemed to have a great veteran presence and was very productive.

If his injury has little to no effect, that'd give us great flexibility down the middle.

I guess you forgot that Lang was fleeced on these boards when he first signed. And when he went down was probably our best player....give the guy a chance....

Ceux de Montreal 08-29-2009 10:20 AM

We'd have to trade someone... for salary purpose first, and then to make room for him...

I'd guess Metropolit, D'Agostini, Plekanec, Chipchura, Laraque are the most likely to get traded if we get Lang back. That or we let Pac, Chip and D'Ago for yet another year in Hamilton...

Did Saku ever do 50+ passes?

I keep forgetting about him, maybe because i don't remember anything spectacular about him, could be good, could be bad.

That's the first thing I noticed when reading the article. It's good to see that Lats is continuing to work hard on improving his skating.

I disagree with Gomez, he is one of the premiere playmakers in the league and should be considered a legit #1 center. Not every #1 center can be a Crosby, Malkin or Thornton!

I understand, given the type of injury he had, why no one is willing to risk on Lang and I would definitely welcome Lang back if he is as good as he was last year. Lang was running our best line for a period of time last year with the Kostitsyn brothers, which would open the door to many different line combos. And it would take a lot of pressure off of Plekanec's back. It's a win/win situation for both parties.

The Nightman 08-29-2009 11:54 AM

We should really get rid of Metropolit, if we get Lang back

Russian Warrior 08-29-2009 11:58 AM

I want him back. I love his attitude.
