Yahoo Fantasy Draft results
See, the problem I have is I always look at my roster after we're done and think "Holy crikey, how can I lose?" - I don't think I overrate the players I took, but I'm usually very happy and optimistic with the results. Of course, I don't always win the pools I'm in, so I'm looking for input. Where am I too weak? What would you try to upgrade/address with trades? Should I be concerned about the number of Canucks (Bieksa, Burrows, Sedin) and Ducks (Whitney, Selanne, Ryan) I have?

Hiller at number 4 is not really nessicary. Almost every draft I've done has him taken in the 8th or 9th round. Plus, his starting job is not a lock at all. Other than that it look decent, I might not take Burrows that high, but that's just me.

I'm in the same league, here are my picks:
BouverieStBullies Round Pick Player Position 1. (7) Jeff Carter C 2. (22) Henrik Lundqvist G 3. (35) Eric Staal C 4. (50) Nicklas Lidstrom D 5. (63) Andrei Markov D 6. (78) Tomas Vokoun G 7. (91) Milan Michalek LW 8. (106) Ray Emery G 9. (119) Jason Pominville RW 10. (134) Brian Gionta RW 11. (147) Joffrey Lupul RW 12. (162) Claude Giroux RW 13. (175) Todd White C 14. (190) Jaroslav Spacek D 15. (203) Brooks Laich C 16. (218) Erik Cole LW 17. (231) Cory Stillman LW 18. (246) Roman Hamrlik D 19. (259) Adrian Aucoin D 20. (274) Pierre-Marc Bouchard LW 21. (287) Willie Mitchell D Not a bad team, if not a little weak on D. |
Hiller at 4 is way too early. Giguere is still on Anaheim, and one good season does not a starting goalie make.
Emery in the 8th round is a much better choice. Philly is stacked this year, and his backup is Boucher. He should have at least 30+ wins. I'm a fan of these considering where you were able to get them. Good run of 6 picks (except for alice, not a fan of him :)): 14. (184) Erik Johnson D 15. (209) Andy McDonald C 16. (212) Alex Goligoski D 18. (240) Patrik Berglund C 19. (265) James Neal LW If anything goes wrong in Anaheim, your right wing could be a bit weak. When you've only got 4 of a position, having your top two at any position from the same team isn't ideal - unless it's Pittsburg / Detroit / SJS / etc - especially given Kotalik / Williams aren't great substitutes. You have really good center depth though, and while your D doesn't exactly have big-name guys it's pretty well spread out. For the other guy - Lidstrom / Markov in 5th / 6th round are solid pickups. Markov is always underrated. |
Scoring is easy to find, so I always take goalies in the first two rounds.
