How much does your beer league cost?

How much does your local rink charge for a non-checking, adult men's league?

Reason I ask is because one of the rinks here in Nashville got bought out and the new owners really jacked up the price to pay. It's at $505 ($475 + $30 for USA hockey), for 23 games plus playoffs (not sure what the playoff format is), which averages to $21.95 per game, not counting playoffs. If you want to pay-as-you-play, it will cost you $25 per game. It is a pretty nice rink, though.

Is this reasonable?

That's comparable to Denver-area leagues.

Hour and a half? With 1 ref, 2 linesmen? Scorekeeper? How many on a team? Do the goalies pay?

Certainly seems OK depending on what you are getting...and what you want.

cjbhab 09-10-2009 11:05 PM

$470 CAD for 34 regular season games + 2 guaranteed playoff games..

TheFinalWord 09-10-2009 11:16 PM

I pay $395 for 26 games plus at least 1 playoff game in Burlington. This includes scorekeepers and 2 refs. Seems to be about the going rate in my area with rates going from $390 to $425 for a similar number of games.

densetsu 09-10-2009 11:18 PM

I've found Edmonton leagues to be around $17.50 - $20 a game.

This season we're in a new league, $430 for 28 games = $15.36 a game, must qualify for playoffs. Games are Sunday nights, 10:00pm or later, at smaller rinks. Heck, half these rinks don't even have showers. Very limited reporting on stats as well.

Last season was just over $20/game, but at least the games were at decent times... usually starting between 7 - 9 pm. And the rink had showers. And the league website gave you a plethora of stats. I'd love to be in that league this season, but the rink they played out of shut down, leaving 90+ teams scrambling to find a spot in other leagues. Edmonton and area *desperately* needs more available ice time.

Of course, all leagues have scorekeepers, refs, etc. Usually 2 refs, sometimes one.

Yeah, it sucks the Icebox shut down. It was a dive of a rink but it was somewhere to play hockey. I still haven't found anywhere to play this winter.

$155 for 11 games + playoffs in an over 35 league in Pittsburgh....you also get the snazzy rink jersey with free advertising on it thrown in...

blueberrydanish 09-11-2009 12:16 AM

About a 14 man roster comes out to 308 for skaters for 15 games + playoff for me

FLYLine24* 09-11-2009 12:31 AM

It varies between my three teams depending how many guys are on the team..but on average i'm going to say for the winter league.....about 475 bucks. Thats 20 games + 2-5 playoff games.

About 20 and change per game I would estimate.(I clicked the wrong choice)

Summer league(maybe 4 less games) its about 17 bucks a game.

Happy Pony 09-11-2009 04:18 AM

Used to work at the pipe shop next door. Our shift would rent the ice after work. Nice arena. Food is **** though ;)

I'm not a big fan of the food (or the prices) although I did try the Philly Cheese Steak the last time I was there and it was quite good. It's nice to have a bar where you can watch your friends games from though. And the beer is always cold.

rinkrat22 09-11-2009 07:22 AM

this year fall session is $2700us. 12 games and playoffs with a 1 game guarantee in playoffs. so 13 games for sure. per player amount varies every year because some guys get a case of the "committals" but I would say on average we have 15 players including the tendy who pays also. so its 180 per guy for the season and about 13 dollars per game. that includes a score keeper/2 refs 17 min periods. running clock after 6 goal differential. we usually go deep in the playoffs so we get 15 or so games which is no extra cost.

That's not always true. In at least some of our leagues in Cincinnati, the refs (who are not USA Hockey certified) actually run the score board. The games are run time except for the last xxx minutes of a one goall game.

Canadian Chris 09-11-2009 09:27 AM

Just had our AGM the other night...here's what we've got as far as prices...

$217 for 1.5hrs of ice, this does not include the use of 2 linesmen or scorekeeper, which on average combined will run about $80.

For the season, our team pays $8000. That includes, 2 "preseason" games, 40 regular season games, and last year I believe was 6 playoff games, but that's all dependent upon the size of the division. Last year we had 8 teams in our division, this year there is only 6, so a different format will likely be used.

As a player I pay $320, up from $300 last year. Gotta love sponsorship money!

pfloyd75 09-11-2009 10:05 AM

The two leagues I play in here in Atlanta are:
$450 for 20 games plus playoffs. ($22.5 per game)
$225 for 12 games- no playoffs ($18.75 per game)

IniNew 09-11-2009 10:22 AM

230 a person for 10 games +Playoffs.

We have 14 Skaters + a Goalie (pays half price).

Scorekeeper, and 2 refs for every game.

Danrik 09-11-2009 10:26 AM

Ours is expensive.

$10750 per team. 35 games guaranteed (1 exhibition, 32 league, minimum 2 playoff).

We also had to buy jerseys again. I can't stand it when the team changes jersey every year. I have so many useless jerseys at home i will never wear again.

The Big Giant Head 09-11-2009 11:46 AM

pay 350 for 15 games + 2 preseason games.

ean 09-11-2009 12:29 PM

Way more than you guys..so be happy.

Passthedonuts 09-11-2009 12:48 PM

I play in a church league. 11pm on Friday nights so it's dirt cheap, $180 CAD for 16 games + playoffs.

busta9 09-11-2009 02:17 PM

$320 cdn for 26 games ... works out to about $12/game
