We had a thread reach 1,000 posts! And it only took us four years to do it...

I saw that earlier this summer and wondered when it would come to an end. RIP Ads thread #1...

Expect some cuts from training camp Wednesday, most likely going to juniors or Europe, but some probably heading to Ads camp - which doesn't start for another week...

Admirals training camp roster is out:

Defense
Reid Cashman** (2, Quinnipiac '07)
Robert Dietrich*

Mark Matheson*
Brock Sheahan (1, Notre Dame '08)
Russ Sinkewich*
Jason Woll (Rookie, Milwaukee School of Engineering '09)

Left Wing
Mark Derlago*** (2, Brandon Wheat Kings '07)
Bryan Leitch (Rookie, Quinnipiac '09)
Mark Santorelli*
Jozef Sladok (1, Plymouth Whalers '08)

Right Wing
Hugh Jessiman*
Ryan Maki*
Ian McKenzie*
Matt Pierce (Rookie, Mercyhurst '09)

Mark Van Guilder*

Goaltender
Chet Pickard*
Jeremy Smith*

* = Attended Predators Training Camp
** = Played more than 10 games with an AHL team last year (each successive star indicates an additional ten games)

I think it's interesting that we have Sladok in camp. This is a guy who is truly reputed for his pugilism. He racked up 37 fighting majors in the OHL over a two year span, and 11 fights in 29 games last year in the CHL.

Robin Big Snake wants in on this.

BigFatCat999 09-24-2009 07:42 AM

Great hockey names:

Jeff Beukeboom
Radek Bonk
Miroslav Satan
Wacey Rabbit
Robin Big Snake

Discussion over.

Will Rabbit make the team or is he cannon fodder?

Yeah, this one escaped me until I after I already posted...

Ads drop their preseason opener to Chicago. Pickard let in two of the five goals, Smith the other three, and apparently Smith's were of the soft variety. Ian McKenzie scored the lone Ads goal. Sounds like PP issues are an organizational problem.

He's got an outside chance. The Ads likely need a fourth line center, and he stood out in tonight's exhibition clunker.

We have a full report from the game here if you're interested.

Why didn't Eaves play on Milwaukees first game? Is he still injured, or cant he just fit in the rosters?

Great article on Blum

Quote:

"There's no hurry. I'm only 20 years old," [Blum] said. "There's a lot of time left. You want to do it as quick as possible. But you want to have a good, solid career. I'll wait for the moment I'm ready, and I can make an impact."

Blum is just 6'-1" and 170? He looked bigger and stronger than that to me. Not by a lot, but I thought he was a touch taller and heavier. Maybe 180+

He was a UFA

worstfaceoffmanever 10-17-2009 08:00 AM

Chet Pickard's first professional start is... probably the worst thing that could have possibly happened. He gave up as many goals in one start as Dekanich gave up in three starts, and the Ads fall 7-5 to Abbottsford.

bananaslug 10-17-2009 03:25 PM

Blum with 2 goals 2 assists last night, heard his first goal was really nice
