Q: When is the earliest the Kings CHL prospects are eligible to play a full season in Manchester?
A: Providing he has a pro contract:
2009-10: Hickey, Moller, King, Loktionov, Kolomatis, Pelech, Nolan
2010-11: Teubert, Wudrick, Jones, Kozun
2011-12: Schenn, Clifford, Deslauriers, Berube, Vey
They can join Manchester for the rest of Manchester's season after their respective junior seasons are over, providing they have a pro contract or an ATO.

Here's an explanation of the AHL age requirements.

Since this question seems to come up over and over again:

There is a private agreement in place between the NHL and the CHL that governs when a player coming from the CHL can play in the AHL. A player from the CHL has to either turn 20 by December 31st of the season (ie a player born in 1987 can start playing in the 2007-08 season, a player born in 1988 can start playing in the 2008-09 season etc.) OR have completed 4 seasons of junior eligibility. This agreement also covers European players if they are drafted out of the CHL (Examples would be players like Petr Vrana and Ivan Vishnevskiy). Also - CHL players are eligible to play in the AHL once their junior season is over (either by virtue of their junior team not making the playoffs or being eliminated from the playoffs) even if they don't yet meet the age or eligibility criteria listed above.

College players and European players (provided they are drafted out of Europe--even if they later play in the CHL) are not covered by this agreement. They only have to abide by the AHL's age requirement, which is that a player has to turn 18 by September 15 of any given season to be eligible to play. While you won't see many 18-year olds in the AHL, some European players have played at that age (e.g. Niklas Bergfors)

Q: Which Kings prospects played in the WJC?
A: Teubert, Schenn, Kozun, and Jones played for the Canadian WJC squad. Deslauriers was invited to the December evaluation camp but was cut. Loktionov missed the WJC due to a shoulder injury. The Kings decided not to release Voynov for the WJC.

Nice Sam. Looking forward to a big season from Garret Roe. Really a shame he couldn't participate in camp.

Good catch. I hadn't realized the Kings had released him yet. He's still on the Kings training camp roster.

More on Wudrick and Swift Current's Opening Victory
Quote:

Wudrick had a goal an assist in his first game of the season after returning from surgery just in time for the season opener.

“It was pretty exciting to get back,” said Wudrick, 19. “For myself I had appendicitis there two weeks to the hour of our home opener so it was pretty exciting for myself to get back obviously and recover quickly. To have everyone back and healthy was pretty exciting and our fans were awesome today and it was great to see everything new in our rink and all the fans excited tonight.”

Wudrick failed to score in his first 12 games last season before coming on late to net 35 during his third full season with the Broncos.

“It was a bit of a rough start last year and I was pretty inconsistent even throughout the season up until about the second half. My goal this year is to have a strong season game in and game out. Hopefully I can get that going and tonight was a good start for us. I am playing with a really good line now with Cody and Dane Muench there.”

I really hope Jones wasn't just a product of his team last year, let's hope he wasn't.

Kozun Gets an A

As per the Hitmen website, Kozun will serve as an assistant Captain this year.

I apologize if this has been posted anywhere here already.

The best of luck this year, Kings fans.

Jones has stopped 24/26 shots thru 2 periods

Kozun has 1 Goal 1 Assist

Calgary leads 3-2

EDIT: Make that 2 Assists for Kozun

Jones has a slight ankle sprain and is expected to miss 7-10 days.
Quote:

“He held us in there until we got our heads in the game,” said Williamson of Snider, who got the call after Martin Jones suffered a slight ankle sprain during Calgary’s 5-4 shootout win in Medicine Hat over the Tigers on Friday night.

“It’s not severe at all,” added Williamson in regards to the injury which will keep Jones out of the lineup for a week to 10 days. “At this point of the year, we’d rather be safe than sorry. We’re better off making sure it’s 100 per cent. If not those things can linger on.”
Also, as Boltz9 mentioned in another thread, Schenn has been returned to juniors.

KopitarFAN 10-03-2009 12:24 AM

Jones: DNP
Schenn: 0pts, -2
Teubert: 1 Assist, Even
Kozun: 0pts, Even(i think)

Shootmaster_44 10-03-2009 02:58 AM

With Jordan Nolan's release from Monarchs camp yesterday, I'd assume he is heading back to Sault Ste. Marie correct?

palffytofrovlov 10-10-2009 12:35 PM

It was interesting night for Kings prospects in the WHL.

The positives: Kozun 1 goal 2 assists
and Wudrick with a hat trick and a assist...

The negatives:
Schenn 1 assist and a minus 1 in a loss
Teubert 0 points minus 2 in a loss vs Kozun's Calgary team... Martin Jones was not in net.

Brayden Schitt has been a real disappointment so far, but he'll turn it around.

Guilty!!!

On a side note, it's been a slow start for our prospects. Let's hope things get turned around.

YEAH!!! Andre Ethier just hit a 2 run home run.

Brayden Schitt! But seriously didn't he lead his team in scoring last year? Only four assist in four games and no goals, is this a cause for concerns? I hope he turns it around.

Matt13 10-12-2009 06:19 PM

Clifford was chucking them!

Sam 10-12-2009 06:59 PM

Schenn had 3 assists yesterday and then a goal and an assist today. Clifford had a goal and a fight. Wudrick had a goal and an assist. Vey had a goal and 3 assists.

I called him that because I wasn't in favor of that selection.

But he has had a couple of good games the last 2 days.

Who did you want the Kings to take?
