Where do we pick?

We pick 16th right? The top 14 teams are all non playoff and the playoff teams get ranked in order of lowest point total to highest (with a few exceptions). We are tied with the lowest point total with the Islanders. I'm assuming the tie-breakers are the same for making the playoffs. We both have the same win totals (38), but Nashville wins the head-to-head series 1-0. So I'm guessing we draft 16th and the Isle take the 15th spot?

Either way, it will put a little more pressure on our scouts to come through for us. Pickin' 1-10 is fairly easy, but after that, it can get a little hairy. Here's to some more quality picks!

who shall we take? I'v heard Chipchura might slip down to as low as 15 to 16. IMO we take him if he's available

another defenseman? why? because he's gritty?

hillbilly 04-06-2004 02:01 AM

Chipchura is a solid 2-way centermen, possible Johnson replacement I hope

not to mention we've got crap for depth at the center position IMO

barrytrotzsneck 04-06-2004 03:31 AM

ah. for some reason i was thinking he was a d-man.

According to this morning's Titanssean we pick 15th. They also noted that Hamhuis was selected at 12th. So, with some good scouting we can get a good pick at 15th I think.

SmokeyClause 04-06-2004 09:29 AM

I think we are picking 16th.

hipcheck85 04-06-2004 09:52 AM

I thought since we are in the PLAYOFFS we wouldn't be concerned with this yet... :joker:

Maybe Picard will be available, or one of the higher classed Europeans will be passed on :dunno: Draft day is hard to predict. Scouts get their man. Last year I was stunned to see Nashville draft Glazachev in the 2nd round.

At the 16th spot, our pick is more of a risk, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe this year we will take a risk on one of the flashy forwards and draft a Havlat in the making

If I had to say which guys will be selected before the 16 th pick, here would be my list

Ovechkin
Malkin
Barker
Tukonen
Montoya
Schwarez
Wolsiski
Olesz
Schremp

Those are my safe bets, with a goalie maybe falling to us. Guys who I would like to see be selected by the Preds:

Radulov
Thelen
Picard
Chipchura
Smid

Hopefully one of those 5 are available. My guess is that one of the last three will be ours on draft day :yo: Too bad we have no 2nd round pick this year, though ;/

hillbilly 04-06-2004 10:37 AM

Schremp might not even go top 10 anymore, but I don't know if the preds would want to take the risk if he was still available.

if he's available, i say take him. too much talent to pass up. it was a mistake passing on o'sullivan, too.

hillbilly 04-06-2004 12:30 PM

I agree, but I don't know if Poile wants to bring in a guy like Schremp, the possability of a locker room cancer never really thrilled me
