STORYLINES
After a rousing 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, the Kings return to the ice Tuesday when the team hosts the New York Islanders at the Sprint Center in Kansas City at 5 p. (PT).

Tuesday's game is the first of three games the Kings will play away from Los Angeles this week. The Kings will travel to Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday before facing the Avalanche again at Frozen Fury XII in Las Vegas on Saturday.

KINGS ALL-TIME GAMES AT KC
Dec. 18, 1974 W 6-0
April 1, 1975 L 1-3
Jan. 7, 1976 W 5-2
March 30, 1976 W 8-6
Sept. 22, 2008 W 2-1

KINGS NO STRANGER TO KC
The Kings were 4-1-0 all-time in Kansas City and 7-1-0 vs. the Kansas City Scouts all-time from 1974-76. The Scouts moved to Colorado following the 1976 season and became the Rockies. The Rockies, of course moved to New Jersey in 1982 where they have experienced a tremendous amount of success as the New Jersey Devils.

The franchise spent just two seasons in Kansas City playing at Kemper Arena, posting a 27-110-23 mark, finishing in fifth in the Smythe Division both seasons.

BATTLE OF THE WESTGARTH BROTHERS
Tuesday's game against the Islanders will pit two brothers against one another. Kings center Kevin Westgarth will play against his older brother, Brett, a defenseman on the Islanders.

Last season, Kevin Westgarth played in just nine games for the Kings and did not register a point, while Brett played with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL.

One reason this matchup is all the more interesting is when you look at the personalities of both players.

Kevin is one of the Kings brawlers and has shown a propensity to get into fights with the other team. Brett is looking to make the Islanders and will be looking to do whatever he can to make an impression. It would not be unrealistic if the two brothers fought each other tonight.

Another interesting note is that Tuesday's game marks the second consecutive year that two brothers will face one another in a game in Kansas City. Last year when the Kings played the St. Louis Blues at the Sprint Center, the Kings Dwight King faced his brother, D.J., in the Kings 2-1 defeat of the Blues.

A LOOK BACK AT SATURDAY'S GAME
After a tough 2-1 loss in a shootout against the San Jose Sharks in Ontario, the Kings rebounded with a strong 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks at STAPLES Center Saturday night.

Aside from rookie Brayden Schenn's "schenn-sational" performance in which he scored his first two goals of the pre-season, one area in which the Kings were solid was in the penalty kill.

On the night, the Kings were six of seven in the penalty kill, the lone goal coming late in the second period on a goal by Anaheim's Saku Koivu to cut the Kings lead to 3-1.

"We just competed hard and we executed our system," center Anze Kopitar said. "We didn't have a lot of turnovers on the blue line which is always key to winning games and not having scoring chances against. Obviously scoring four goals help us a lot too and Bernier was playing solid in net. Our PK was pretty good. Yeah we gave up one but I thought our PK was solid. I think it was just a mixture of everything."

The Kings also scored a power-play goal of their own in the first period to take an early 1-0 lead.

CHEMISTRY ALONG TOP LINE GETTING BETTER
Throughout training camp the Kings have played with a top line of Justin Williams, Anze Kopitar, and Ryan Smyth, and it looks like this will carry into the regular season.

Last season Kopitar played all 82 games, leading the team in points (66) and assists (39), and was second in goals (27).

Smyth is a new addition to the Kings after being traded from Colorado for Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing, and a fifth round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Smyth played in 77 games last season with the Avalanche, scoring 26 goals and notching 33 assists for 59 points.

The Kings will be looking forward to having a healthy Williams for a full season after he was traded to Los Angeles from the Carolina Hurricanes in an injury-riddled year in 2008.

"I think our chemistry is getting better each and every day," Kopitar said. "We kind of know each other. I've played against Ryan for now three years. I didn't play with Justin a whole lot before but we played a couple games last year so I kind of know what his style is. Obviously I think everyone knows what (Smyths) style is. You know what you're getting but you got to build that chemistry thats for sure, and with practice I think were getting it."

This will be a great test of Hickey vs Drewiske. They both will probably play every game after this as well.

Also, anybody out there up for giving me a "GO KINGS GO?" Jacob?

Looks like this will be Lewis' big chance to shine. I think its also Teddy's first game at RW if I'm not mistaken.

Prediction time.

I'm going to venture the D comes up big tonight. Goals by Doughty and Martinez, and one from Fro.

Kings win, 3-2.
