Gross: Avery on the Ice

http://njmg.typepad.com/rangersblog/...n-the-ice.html

Says he's skating with the orange (no contact) jersey.

Still believes Aves is doubtful for Friday in Pitt, but really hoping (as I'll be there) that he'll be in the lineup Saturday for the Garden opener

If there's one person that needs to be on the ice to terrorize Crosby's Banner night, it's Sean Avery.

On the other hand, knowing that Avery gets called everything against him, while Crosby gets everything called in his favour, not having Avery could save our PK quite some work... ;)

Just hoping he's on the ice Saturday night for the home opener.... Wouldn't feel right without Avery out there stirring things up with Neil.

My thoughts exactly.

Avery needs to rest until he is in perfect condition. We know what he brings to the team. This is valuable playing time for all the newbies. Veterans and rookies. Torts needs time to tinker.

agreed...its 1 game in a loooooong loooooong season, a healthy avery for say...78 games is way more important to this team than a not as healthy avery for 82.

I really hope Avery doesn't miss time.

We need him in the lineup.

While I've said that Lisin has more offensive upside... What Avery brings to the table is irreplacable.

Need him in the lineup. I'd actually like to see him get a look on the Left Wing with Dubi and Gaborik.

Can't wait for Friday. Drop the puck!

Not surprising.

Hopefully he will be ready to go by Monday or Thursday.

He should take his time to get healthy. I'd hate for this to be a nagging season long thing.

OverTheCap 10-01-2009 01:55 PM

According to Gross:

Quote:

Sean Avery skated for a second straight day wearing a non-contact jersey (white this time, prefer the orange, go Syracuse) and even joined in some line rushes with rookie Artem Anisimov and right wing Ales Kotalik in place of Enver Lisin.
Uh oh, not looking so good for all those "Avery on the 4th line" advocates...

""I'd actually like to see him get a look on the Left Wing with Dubi and Gaborik.""

I think that is the line, right there. Avery has the smarts to play w/Gaborik

and he'd also be the right guy to take some attention away from Gabby. Plus, he's a pretty good skater to fly with #10.
