Minnesota Wild @ Los Angeles Kings 10/08/09 7:30PM PST

The Wild @ Los Angeles - 10/8/09 - 7:30PM.

Game time is getting close. Ill start the thread and you guys fix it up.

Quick will have a solid game and Kings will win 4-2.

JDM 10-08-2009 06:42 PM

Alright then, I was going to wait for the GDT so as not to snub johnjm22, but here's part of the pregame story:

Quote:

Tonight the Kings face off against the Minnesota Wild. The question is, which Kings team will step on the ice?

Will it be the frightened and disorganized group of headless turkeys we saw against Phoenix, or will it be the tenacious and confident hockey team we saw against San Jose?

My guess is, somewhere in between.

Minnesota should prove to be a better test of where the Kings stand. Fresh off a come-back overtime victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, the Wild are one of the fringe teams that the Kings will likely be battling with all season long to secure a playoff berth. The Wild come in to town with a roster that is largely the same, but a front office that is vastly different.
From http://www.lakingsnews.com/2009/10/p...minnesota.html

Must leave Staples on a high note. Long road trip coming up.

Big Story -- Both teams are coming off big wins. The Kings jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Sharks, saw San Jose tied the score, but regrouped for a 6-4 win. The Wild trailed Anaheim 3-0 well into the third period of its home opener on Tuesday, but scored three times in regulation before Andrew Brunette's power-play goal in OT lifted Minnesota to a 4-3 win.

Team Scope:

Wild -- Minnesota didn't get much time to enjoy its big comeback win. The Wild hit the road for a tough five-game western swing; after Los Angeles they visit San Jose, Anaheim, Edmonton and Vancouver.

"Lots of emotions, it was a great feeling after the game but today it's over with and it's done, " coach Todd Richards said at practice Wednesday. "We're focusing on getting better as a group and getting ready for L.A.."

Richards thinks it might not be such a bad thing to have a long trip right now. "I think players at the start of the year have more energy. I think Minnesota had a tough end to their schedule where they spent a lot of time on the road and it doesn't bode well when you're battling for a playoff position.

"I'd much rather have a road trip early on. We'll have a dinner in Anaheim, I know the guys are planning something on Sunday, we have a day off in San Jose, so they'll be doing something as a group and spend some time together."

Kings -- Any time you score six goals on the San Jose Sharks, you're doing something right -- except when you allow four on the power play, which the Kings also did. San Jose went 4-for-4 with a man-up. Phoenix went 1-for-3 in a 6-3 win at Staples Center on Saturday, meaning the Kings have killed just 2 of 7 opposition power plays.

Last year, it took until the seventh game of the season for anyone to score a power play goal on LA.

"I am (concerned),'' Murray told LAKings.com, "but as I said last night, I look at the way (the Sharks) move the puck around, and also the Phoenix team, the way they move the puck around on the power play. That was pretty good stuff. But we're a better penalty-kill team than what we've shown.

"We know that, from how it all came together last year. We've got to get better at it, there's no question.'' Meanwhile, the power play is 4-for-8 so far on the offensive end.

Injury Report -- Wild forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard did not play Tuesday night after complaining about headaches. "We were without him last night, with him in the lineup it makes us a better team but it's a chance for some of these other guys to step and get some valuable ice time. Second line spot, power play, regardless there's some ice time to be had there."

Kings defenseman Alec Martinez missed Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury while defenseman Sean O'Donnell returns from a five-game suspension (three preseason, two regular-season) resulting from an altercation with the Islanders' Matt Martin.

Stat Pack -- Kings goalie Jonathan Quick is 3-0-0 lifetime vs. Minnesota with a 1.95 GAA. No.1 center Anze Kopitar has five points (2G, 3A) in his first two games.

Puck Drop -- Itís a big game for the Kings, who complete a season-opening three-game homestand and head East for a six-game road trip. The Wild will try to build on the biggest third-period comeback in franchise history.

Sweet pictures Albi!

Though I notice there is a very important Kings site missing from your list :sarcasm:

What site?

Unfortunately I couldn't post all the pics I used to post for GDT at "my" board, due to HF restrictions...in fact I had to cut some players' profile and other stuff.

FootKnight 10-08-2009 07:13 PM

Hopefully we see Tuesday's Kings rather than Saturday's.

Sheep are crazy. Don't mess with them. I'm not afraid of a dead bear.

Probable Wild Line Combos

Richards is breaking up his top line of Brunette, Koivu and Havlat tonight, putting Havlat on a line with friend and countryman, Sykora:

Brunette-Koivu-Clutterbuck
Sykora-Belanger-Havlat
Miettinen-Sheppard-Nolan
Scott-Pouliot-Brodziak

Well this traffic is ****ing miserable. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 101 is the new 405, only less predictable.

I was thinking though, it really is a shame that Clune is hurt. Next time we play the Wild, Clune vs. Clutterbuck is pretty much a sure thing.

101 and the 10, two freeways I avoid like the plague.

DAkings20 10-08-2009 08:57 PM

I wonder if Ivanans will go with Scott, he's huge 6'8 and 260.

aegwillnotwinthecup* 10-08-2009 09:02 PM

There's not one player on the Wild I'm scared to play against now that Gaborik is gone. They're a solid team, but this should be easy for us.

Then again, Saturday should have been easy.

Kings lose 3-2.

KopitarFAN 10-08-2009 09:02 PM

Is Cluster****, I mean Clutterbuck still with Minnesota?

kingsholygrail 10-08-2009 09:05 PM

As long as we don't see this tonight by Quick, we should be fine:

Kings win 3-2, GO KINGS!

Glad to see OD will be back in the lineup!

Rumor has it that Scott has a T-shirt that says SHEEP FEAR ME...

Too bad nothing else does...

Telos 10-08-2009 10:09 PM

Tonight has been nuts... Pitts and Flyers ending in a brawl and Hartnell biting Letang, Backstrom scoring on Lundy from the red line, Devils tying the Lightning with 1 second left, Kane get his first NHL goal and Kovy gets his 300th career goal, Coburn scores on his own net... I am crossing my fingers for an uneventful win tonight.

The boards are exploding tonight with craziness.

FrozenKing18 10-08-2009 10:16 PM

are you all ready???????????

GO KINGS GO!
