Garrison Recalled, Salak Back to the Amerks

Jason Garrison was called up to the Panthers today and Alexander Salak was returned to the Amerks.

Someone get hurt in last nights game?

RainingRats 10-10-2009 02:17 PM

Ballard?

NHLMistress 10-10-2009 02:39 PM

Wait, aren't Garrison & Salak GT's?

FinlandPanther 10-10-2009 02:47 PM

ah,ok... so since I hear Clemmensen is back in town & we need more D... they sent the other backup GT back down to the AHL & brought up an extra D-man, right?

FinlandPanther 10-10-2009 02:52 PM

that would be correct. all though im not sure wy they brought up garrison...injury?

Boooooth10 10-10-2009 02:55 PM

Maybe they're giving Kulikov a break for tonight?

my god,did he need it last night. he was attrocious. i still think he should be in junior, he'll be a stud in the NHL soon, but i dont think hes ready yet.

NHLMistress 10-10-2009 02:58 PM

Question is: Is Garrison even GOOD enough to bring up for one game...

FinlandPanther 10-10-2009 03:00 PM

well he played one game with us last year, i thought he was solid nothing stood out good nor bad.

Markstrom Rules 10-10-2009 03:08 PM

Yeah, I think Garrison would be servicable. He doesn't have Kulikov's offensive upside, but his play in his own end is probably better at this point. I don't think sitting Kulikov tonight would be a good move though. That could be a blow to his confidence. Play him in 9 games straight, then make a decision. Either he gets it done or he doesn't.

I don't think he was atrocious last night, but he definitely looked like a rookie. He's going to make mistakes here and there, it's to be expected. But the whole team was off.

They should bench Koistinen and call up Duco!!

I'd be in favor of this. 2 games, 2 HORRENDOUS penalties.

jol 10-10-2009 04:08 PM

Maybe Allen should have a conditioning stint in Rochester?

No. He'd have to go through waivers, I believe. Don't think he needs it

hoax15 10-10-2009 04:36 PM

Kulikov had 1 or 2 rookie mistakes last night. Atleast he let them out in a 7-2 loss and not a 2-2 game 5 min from going to OT.

He was fantastic his first two games and I think he'll pick up there if played tonight.

Spoken like a hockey god! Hear! Hear! :handclap:

Kulikov is going to be just fine. If anything, it will make him realize he still has a lot to learn. A bit of humility's good for everyone one of us.

Absolutely. The whole team couldn't get it going, makes no sense to dump on him.

Not for a conditioning stint, however you probably have to prove he needs it for medical reasons or whatever. (which won't happen)

harv3317 10-10-2009 06:02 PM

allen doesn't need a conditioning stint. his knee is not compltely healed and it's giving him problems. our only somewhat physical d-man!!!! not good!!!!!

If they knew that he needs rest (back to back games), why they played him on friday, not on saturday (home opening)? Or they were hoping that he could play both games?

I think his knee is fine. He said it hasn't given him any problems at all so far. I think they just held him out because it was a back to back. They are probably just being careful with him, don't want to overwork the knee or tire him out. His conditioning IS off, it's going to take awhile for him to get that back, as well as his game timing. I don't think he needs a conditioning stint in the AHL though, he can do that here.

Good move - why spoil the Amerks season by calling up key players when it's clear they're definitely not enough to save the Panthers' season?:sarcasm:
