I haven't been around the boards much for a few days. Any updates on Dumont or Wilson?

predfan24 10-12-2009 02:00 AM

I got a feeling Preds will get 4. They always like to show their potential every once in awhile and leave you wanting more.

Games against Edmonton are usually high scoring affairs...on both ends. Usually pretty exciting. I hope to see some of our injured players back tonight. Hate to say it, but I'd like to see Tootoo back.

Bryanbryoil 10-12-2009 02:54 AM

Any word if Dumont will be playing?

I'm not counting on any of them being back soon. Maybe they will, and it will surprise me.

But Tootoo isn't even close. He's not even skating yet. I bet he got hurt during the team scrimmage in camp. I saw him after he either fell or got hit and he got up on one knee really slowly with a grimmace on his face and he was in pain skating back up the ice.

Let's Go Preds! :handclap:

I suspect he'll be back then or the game after, which is why they haven't put him on IR.

I have no clue when Wilson will be back. Is he even skating?

From the Tennessean-

Wilson closest to returning, could actually play tonight depending on how he feels at game time.

Dumont possible for Wednesday

Tootoo out, hopes to start skating today.

Will we break 8k in attendance tonight? Attendance has been pathetic this year.

Even if he only plays 8-10 minutes, I believe Colin Wilson playing tonight would be a HUGE shot in the arm for this team!

golfmade 10-12-2009 09:15 AM

Preds come out angry after the 1-0 loss to Buffalo and come out swinging. Preds eek out a 4-3 win, Arnott the game winner.

While of course you would like to see better than we have; this is pretty standard to October right? A little disappointing we couldn't get at least 15K+ for the home opener or the first Saturday game though for sure.

Predradio twitter just said COLIN WILSON IS IN TONIGHT.

Looking forward to watching his regular season debut! Limited expectations, but regardless, I think the start of a long career here in Nashville for #33...

I'd have to guess lineup would be something along the lines of:

Sullivan - Arnott - Hornqvist
Santorelli - Legwand - Erat
Jones - Wilson - Ward
Smithson - Goc - Guite

Although there are several questions to ponder. Legwand and Erat had their best offensive shift of the night in the third period against Buffalo when Ward was on their line. Jones appeared to be demoted to the fourth line in the third period (he was not moving his feet without the puck on his stick), and then you have the question of whether or not you want an agitator or enforcer in the lineup?

Will be interesting to see how the lines shake out...

Edit: Trotz was quoted this morning by Glennon saying that if Wilson could give them 12 minutes he'd be happy with that. I assume he'll get PP time (he was called into the PP meeting on Saturday) and if so, that might only mean fourth line even strength minutes for Wilson or a rotation with Goc (who'll get PK time) on the third line...

I could live with that. Hornqvist has been looking good with Sully and Arnott. I think with Wilson Ward and Santorelli are interchangeable. If Santorelli is slumping he shifts down with Ward coming up. With Jones and Ward on Wilson's line, it looks like a classic power forward line but with Santorelli replacing Ward it looks like three scoring lines.

During one training camp session, it was the morning before the scrimmage, Wilson centered a line of Jones and Ward and they were the best unit the entire practice in either group. They all have similar skill sets, but differ enough to compliment each other well. They were strong in all the tough areas and consistently put pucks to the net and capitalized on rebounds.

As I said, I'm not getting my hopes up, but if this could energize Jones and create a secondary offensive threat, then I'm all for it!

My proposed fourth line would serve as a shutdown line and hopefully also alleviate some of that responsibility from the second line to free them up to make it or break it at the offensive end of the ice too...

All you need to to part time Jones and Dumont and you'd have the "What Would Jesus Do?" line. Wow, I think you just came up with Nashville's next big thing.

It is a big line and could be a potient defensively as it could be offensively. We shall see.
