Anyone find it disturbing that Ovechkin has 5 less points than our entire team, and just as many goals?

OpenWheel 10-17-2009 10:19 AM

Klein leads in blocks? Hmm, I'll rip him a little less then. I always respect someone who'll block shots. One of his blocks I remember being a diving try after he was burned. At least he put in the effort.

I wonder what the record is for number of games into a season with a power play at 5%?

Go Preds! Listen to the coaches and communicate, concentrate on your own end, and keep them off the scoreboard. Then ignore the coaches and actually play aggressive and score some goals.

remember this ... the need to block shots means you're out of position ... go Preds

That's only half true. Although it's was said about a zillion times here about Zanon as if it's some sort of gospel, so thanks for letting me hear it again. If you're between a shooter and the goal, you're in position, and if you go down to block the shot you get my respect. Don't go down when it doesn't make sense, but it makes sense on, say, a powerplay. And many other times.
Some people seem to think a block means you were just hanging out, screening the goalie.

Anyway, no knock on the idea or response Conando. I just had decided to try to start focusing on the positives on Klein. I've knocked him enough. And figured people would say that block totals meant Klein sucks. When a low block total doesn't mean others are so much more in position. Maybe they're playing soft...

Klein has twice as many blocked shots as anyone else on the team, which I have a feeling is as much a testament to the fact that he's constantly out of position and having to sprawl around like Zanon did to recover as it is his willingness to sacrifice his body...

OpenWheel 10-17-2009 10:46 AM

Well, at least quote the part where I allude to that. The one I mentioned I thought he was going to have his jaw broken. It was a head-first desperate dive. But I respected the "makeup hustle". lol

Seth Lake 10-17-2009 10:47 AM

Top line broken up...

Interesting...we won't know lines until right around game time due to traffic canceling the morning skate today...

OpenWheel 10-17-2009 10:49 AM

Yeah, that's the way our season is going.

Skate - Glennon

Roman Yoshi 10-17-2009 10:58 AM

I know this really isnt a big deal in the big picture, but find a team that has been more unlucky than us which stranger occurences.

Elbunk 10-17-2009 11:51 AM

Is there any local TV coverage for this game? If not, do they release the blackout on Center Ice?

Anybody know???

Knowing you, you'll be closer to the Dropkick Murphys than the Dubliners.

MemphisMTLfan 10-17-2009 11:58 AM

WOOHOO! Go Preds! I'd like a W, not for me, but for the boys. They could use the confidence boost. I'm trying to stay positive through this whole thing. We started out like crap, but we can bounce back.

We will win this, by pure luck of course.

Well, I had hoped that would happen. Right now, they are too much of a liability.

Seth Lake 10-17-2009 05:34 PM

Haven't heard the new lineup yet, but I’d like to see a reunion of Arnott and Legwand and Sullivan and O’Reilly tonight. Maybe something like:

Legwand – Arnott – Dumont
Sullivan – O’Reilly – Hornqvist
Erat – Wilson – Ward
Jones – Goc – Smithson

I would hate to be Trotz and Peterson tonight having to work out the d-pairings…

Fortheloveofthegame 10-17-2009 05:50 PM

Lets go Preds! Lets turn it around tonight! Hard to do against this team, but lets surprise everyone!

David Singleton 10-17-2009 05:57 PM

I'd like to see this:

Quote:

Legwand-Arnott-Dumont
Erat-Wilson-Sullivan
Hornqvist-O’Reilly-Ward
Jones-Goc-Belak

I’d like to see this tried for the power play units:

Sullivan-Wilson-Hornqvist-Weber-Suter
Dumont-Arnott-Legwand-Weber-Franson
David Singleton

MemphisMTLfan 10-17-2009 06:02 PM

Let's do this! At least get a goal!

MemphisMTLfan 10-17-2009 06:12 PM

Damn. A penalty already! :shakehead

goalscorer 10-17-2009 06:12 PM

Legwand-O'Reilly-Dumont...interesting

MemphisMTLfan 10-17-2009 06:15 PM

Yet ANOTHER penalty!

JohniusMaximus 10-17-2009 06:15 PM

I think we just exhausted our offense with those back-to-back break-away chances.
