No More Excuses

Just heard the news on CKAC and the lines are in!!!

Now it is time to produce or to shut up. The Habs first line, our best line must find a way to point points on the board.

Perreault is not there to drag down the best players, as some suggested, so we won't be able to blame him or hide behind him if Kovalev does not produce.

Bulis on the third line as a shutdown specialist and I expect the third line NOT to be on the ice for ANY Bruins goals. If they are on ONE goal, it would be a failure.

Go Habs Go!

I don't like Michel Bergeron but he makes sense when he talks about people putting all the pressure on the first two lines and when they are not producing people are blaming them. While a player on the 3rd or 4th line is not scoring for 20-25 games, no one says a word because we say...."Well they are two-way players and they play great defence"...

I am just turning the table around. If we are going to blame the first two line for NOT scoring, since it is there role, why not blame the THIRD line when they "allow" a goal? And PRAISE them and KISS their butt when they don't allow a goal? Would that be fairer?

Voilą.

I don't believe it would be a failure, it's an improvement over a line that maybe would have allowed 2. Also, if they finish the game in the + then I don't see what's wrong with allowing a bunch of goals.

To blaming a line for allowing one goal is beyond insane. Even if it is a checking line.

Would you blame a line for not scoring?

For one game NO, but if they consistently dont score its a different story.

Too add to that, as long as the effort is there i really dont mind. Same on the defensive end.

OK. Good point.

Now, would you blame the 3rd line if the consistently are on the ice for 1 or 2 goals scored by the opposing team?
