Nylander waived - Should the Habs pick him up?

Nylander waived today!

http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/5510307378

Should the Habs pick him up for the top 6 and try to move Plekanec while he is hot for a winger or a winger and a prospect or pick?

Discuss!

PunkinDrublic* 11-07-2009 12:23 PM

What, you want to get rid of our second best player ? Huh ?

vokiel 11-07-2009 12:23 PM

No.

We're not moving Plekanec.

badfish 11-07-2009 12:24 PM

Nylander sucks, he's not the player he used to be, I say Plekanec is better fort his team then Nylander.

Playmaker09 11-07-2009 12:24 PM

 that is all

Kriss E 11-07-2009 12:27 PM

Don't know his situation..hasn't played a game..but I'd be willing to take a chance.
His contract is a bummer though, but he could be our 2009-2010 Lang.

Never would I trade Plek though. He's been our best player since the season started.
I want Plek re-signed for the next years as well.

Lizard King* 11-07-2009 12:29 PM

Can we pick him up and play him on our 3rd or 4th line? I mean it wouldn't hurt to have an experienced vet playing with us?

Coldplay 11-07-2009 12:29 PM

Are you nuts? Dump on Plek and take on Michael ****ing Nylander?

Maybe if he was put on re-entry, for $2 million I would definitely be interested.

MicroFracture 11-07-2009 12:32 PM

Getting Nylander to play in the top 6 and trading Plekanec?

WestIslander 11-07-2009 12:32 PM

I guess the consensus is NO!

Amazes me how you can even think of swapping Nylander in for Plek. :amazed:

Habs 11-07-2009 12:34 PM

They waived him because he is so awesome, full of character and the players really look up to him.

HABSINCE76 11-07-2009 12:34 PM

I have a feeling that Montreal will in fact pick him up to play with Plekanec on the right side not at center...Kostitsyn Plekanec Nylander!!!!

Daice 11-07-2009 12:57 PM

i wouln't mind picking him up to play WITH pleckanec, but in noooooo way do i want him over pleckanec as a nd line centre...

he .. may halp us, maybe.. he can't be as useless as latendresse... or lapierre on a 2nd line

wedge 11-07-2009 01:01 PM

no thanks. 2 years too late
I prefer JAy Leach ahahha

davepeak 11-07-2009 01:02 PM

We already have 50 contracts and we will keep Plekanec.

He might get a slight consideration on re-entry waivers. But that's all.

Iwishihadacup 11-07-2009 01:09 PM

another who should do standup

I guess I'm the only one, but I think Nylander is underrated. Just because Boudreau hates him doesn't make him a bad player. He was a PPG player just a few seasons ago.

vinzlol 11-07-2009 01:27 PM

Nylander is the new Metropolit

Not surprised. Coming from the same guy who made such a great thread: Finishing in the bottom 5 for the next 5 seasons...

He's 37. A few seasons ago can be a long time ago for someone as old.

That being said, I'd love to have him here playing on 3rd line getting around 50pts. If he shows he can still be a 1pt/gp player, then put him on 2nd along side Plek.

The reason I'd welcome him though is because it would give us more offensive options. Something we're really lacking now.

With a scrub like Jaromir Jagr on his line, nonetheless
