New York Rangers All Decade Team - Starting Goaltender.

We are quickly approaching the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. It is time for us the fans to pick who we would want as our All-Decade Team. In the next few weeks 22 polls will be posted to fill the team. 13 Forwards, 7 defense man and 2 goalies will be choosen.

The first poll will be for the Starting Goaltender Position.

Let the Voting Commence

Note: All player information was taken from the NYR website. My memory does not allow me to remember every player that has played for the Rangers for the past ten years. So any fault with the info is not mine.

mullichicken25 11-13-2009 12:17 PM

Kevin Weeks, easily....no poll needed

Carlos Ranger 11-13-2009 12:22 PM

Vitali Yeremeyev, easily.. no poll needed.

No, but seriously, tough to imagine any argument against Lundqvist being a shoe-in here.

ogie 11-13-2009 12:27 PM

i would think the fight will be between Richter and Hank. That 1994 aura carries alot of weight with some Ranger fans.

If we were talking '94 Richter vs current Lundqvist, then it'd be a battle. But post '00? Lundqvist by a mile.

Carlos Ranger 11-13-2009 12:33 PM

Yea, this is about the 2000's. Even counting '99, Richter's stats from this decade are: 71-84-16, 3.01 GAA, .900SV%, 2 SO.

vs Lundqvist: 150-89-35, 2.33 GAA, .916SV%, 21 SO.

i'm just saying some people are blinded by 1994. I think Hank is miles in front of Richter

Did he dress for a game that took place between 2000-2009 that I missed?

DontStepanMe 11-13-2009 12:59 PM

Voted Blackburn just b/c I think he would have been the best goalie for us this decade if not for that injury. That injury set us back in so many ways. Damn shame, b/c he was going to be a stud.

Also voted Blackburn just so Hank doesn't get a shutout.

only in my dreams.

You are aware the decade doesn't end until 2010 right?

it's 2001-2010. (Yes, 2000 wasn't the new milennium technically because there was no year 0).

there might not have been a year zero but there was a year 2000.

2000-2009 = 10 years.

You miss my point. 1991-2000 is technically when the "90s" ended. So 2001-2010 = 10 years.

Sorry to be a "buzzkill", but I just find it annoying when people start talking about stuff like this pre-emptively. Just like I hate it when movie advertisments say "best movie of year xxxx" in February. Call it a pet peeve if you will.

Lundqvist, should be a fight between Richter and Dunham for backup.

BTW with the 4 good years Rozy gave us, it would be dissapointing if he didnt make it on defense.

Garfinkel1 11-13-2009 01:52 PM

haha. Who voted for Blackburn!??? lol

Avery316 11-13-2009 01:55 PM

Has to be Henrik even though Richter is easily the reason I started playing net, but in this decade Lundqvist has been a bright spot on this team since his rookie season.

hlundqvist30* 11-13-2009 01:56 PM

Vitali Yeremeyev and it's not even close.

Fitzy 11-13-2009 01:56 PM

Im expecting some old rangers like Lindros, Fleury, maybe the Czech passe to make an appearance on this club. Should be a fun poll.

Ive got Lindros, Nylander, Nedved, Messier down the middle. Honorable mention to Scott Gomez.

Who cares? It's a MEANINGLESS debate.

Ih8theislanders 11-13-2009 04:18 PM

I didn't take into account Richters play in this decade, only thought of last, so my fault.

Fitzy 11-14-2009 12:54 PM

Looks like this one is pretty much decided.
