Vancouver wants Plekanec/Halak!

Quote:

2 AM UPDATE

been staying up hoping for more and I just git a snippet. I don't know who the Canadiens want, but the Canucks want Plekanec and Halak in return. This is one of those instances where the answer just opens up way more questions. I am still waiting on a few call backs. If I am woken up by someone I will updated.

So I can only assume we are talking a top 2 d-man heading to Montreal possibly.

Also Edmonton and Detroit are talking. Could this be the pre-curser to the Giguere deal that i was told about a few days ago? I was told that Edmonton would make a move to help either Anahiem or Detroit be able to make the Giguere deal. Very interesting.

This has been a bizarre Friday night.
i won't even post a link to the article cause all he wants is traffic

LastRide 11-14-2009 02:29 AM

I was reading that. Plekanec one of our best players leading the team in points plus a good goalie in Halak. Eklund guessing for a top 2 D-Man ?. I would like to know who that might be thats worth giving up those 2 players. We need help up front more than anything even though we have injuries on D. Getting rid of Plekanec would make things even worse as it is with our goal production. This rumor has fail all over it.

only thing that could make sense for us would be Kesler/Bieksa or maybe Burrows/Bieksa
but neither really make sense for vancouver, so i HOPE it's just mindless speculation (otherwise we might end up with wellwood and erhoff for pleks/halak, knowing gainey...)

beowulf 11-14-2009 02:35 AM

More of the same bull from our friend. Why the hell would Vancouver want Halak?

Kriss E 11-14-2009 02:41 AM

I don't understand why people post his rumors here only to say he's full of it..

macavoy 11-14-2009 03:52 AM

the canucks as mentioned have no use for Halak when they have Luongo locked up for the future. This just proves how dumb Eklund is and why these threads should be instantly locked the minute Eklund is typed.

dre2112 11-14-2009 04:12 AM

For the love of god, can you guys please stop posting this crap?

Marksman 11-14-2009 04:28 AM

I'm expecting Plekanec and Halak moved on spring trade deadlines, if were out of playoffs position, but not now. Especially if Plekanec isnt given contract extension before then.

Even then we would need a goalie back for Halak.

Maybe the deal is Halak for Luongo, Price as a throw-in? :sarcasm:

Mr. Hab 11-14-2009 04:36 AM

Thank-you "latour" for not posting the link...at least Eklund won't be getting more and more traffic. Thanks for that.

What was the last Eklund rumour concerning our Habs?
Price for _?_ or was it Halak for _?_.

What's Eklund's track record with HAB rumours? 1 for 30? 1 for 50? or worse?!!

To Vancouver:

Jaroslav Halak + Tomas Plekanec

To Montreal:

Cody Hodgson + 1st round draft pick in 2010

PunkinDrublic* 11-14-2009 07:03 AM

Oh ok there EK, we have a hole at wing, and now we will have a hole at wing and center.

So basically we are going to trade our best player so far this season and screw up what little chemistry we have.:handclap:

RC51 11-14-2009 07:30 AM

Oh now there is a turn around.
Every time the Habs want something, no matter what they offer in return it's considered a bunch of pucks and worthless lumps of cap sucking unproven no name baffoons and the players the habs want are the best darn hockey players since the dawn of the earth.

SO now it's they that want something the Habs have. Just watch this turn around. Guess what response I would have as Gainey?

While I have no real problems with that, it essentially says that the Canadiens are trashing this season before the end of November.

I'll modify the 'To Montreal' part of the trade to say:

Cody Hodgson + Michael Grabner + 1st round pick in 2010

Imagine a Leblanc/Hodgson top two center duo for years to come...

;-)

Yeah because our prospects have worked out well for us thus far.

I'd hunt Gainey down and torture him if he doesn't re-sign Plekanec.

Monctonscout 11-14-2009 09:31 AM

That would make no sense at all, we need Pleks more than another d-man(even though injuries are hurting us back there).

Don't hold your breath champ!

If Gainey does not sign Plekanec's before the Olympic break and his value goes up, teams will offer him $5,000,000.00 a season and he will walk.

That doesn't solve anything for now. As a matter of fact, this would make us tank even more... wait a minute... you might be on to something...

That's fine.

Minimum I want in return for Plekanec at this rate is a 1st round pick and a *excellent* prospect at center... Like say Hodgson.

Take Van's 1st out and add a conditional pick from Montreal based on Plekanec re-signing with the Canucks. I would do that in a second. Why lose Plekanec and Halak for nothing?

NHLcrazy 11-14-2009 11:22 AM

Would make sense to trade Plekanec now....buy low sell high! Works in finance and in hockey.

Not happening though.

I disagree completely.

I don't see how a prospect without a game played in the NHL is worth more then Plekanec, Halak and a pick. Ceilings aside, Plekanec is a solid 1b/2a center and same for Halak in nets.

Because Plekanec is an UFA and Halak a RFA. Goalies do no have much value either.

Now if Plekanec was already signed to a decent longterm contract then you would have a point.
