I like my team's chances in this matchup (don't we all though). Lindsay-Cowley-Geoffrion is a fantastic line, one of the very best in the draft. But Mahovlich-Nighbor-Dye isn't far off, and I think my team compares very favourably both offensively and defensively from thereon out.

What I really like about my team this go around is that there's no line that's a defensive liability, which is an issue I've run into in other drafts. I feel confident with any of my lines and defensive pairings out there at any time.

I'll be back for more later on.

Definitely considering switching McDonald and Geoffrion. The first line as it stands, is in my opinion, the best in the draft. Ted Lindsay and Bernie Geoffrion are self explanatory. Bill Cowley was an incredible playmaker and really will suit both of these guys well.

The second line features Mr. Corner..Cashman, another slick playmaker in Barry and the goal-scoring, hard-working and hard-hitting Lanny McDonald.

Switching Berlinguette and Courtnall for sure. Berlinguette will add more defensive presence to Goring and Smyl..who both can put some points up too.

Ok, I swapped Berlinguette and Courtnall, and put your special teams up.

I left Geoffrion and McDonald as they are for now. You'll probably have to decide on that one very soon.

chaosrevolver 11-26-2009 10:18 PM

Ill keep those two the way they are. You have a very solid team...so with Holmes being in net...that line will get a ton of ice time and hopefully power home enough goals.

chaosrevolver 11-26-2009 10:19 PM

Switch Kamensky and Courtnall too...Kamensky can bring some deadly offense to the 4th line with Gustafsson on the other side and the tenacious checking of MacT up the middle.

Swapped Kamensky and Courtnall for ya. A pretty astute move, I would say.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With barely any commentary in our series, I guess I might as well go to bat for my team. Here's some advantages I think my team has in this series:

-On the back end, Doug Harvey is clearly the best defenseman (and IMO the best player) in this series. We all know about his ability to put up points, and with the puck on his stick he controls the pace of the game better than anyone not named Orr. Being paired with a mobile stay-at-home defender like Watson will give Harvey the ability to play his game, while simultaneously making one of the better shut-down pairings in the draft. I think this pairing is a gigantic step up from Stewart-Persson on the other side, and may be the biggest advantage either team has at any specific position. Stewart a #1, but I think Persson is entirely miscast in this role. He was a #3/4 defender and PP specialist in his actual NHL career, and now he's being asked to play on the top pairing in an ATD context. I think that's asking for trouble, and I think a guy like Mahovlich will eat him up when the opportunity presents itself.

I've gotta run, but I'll try to add more later on today.

Yeah, I also forgot to mention that I changed my D-pairings.

Jack Stewart - Vladamir Lutchenko
Joe Hall - Stefan Persson
Harry Mummery - Frantisek Tikal

Wouldn't it have been easier just to change the roster thread, rather than having to post last minute changes 3 times? :sarcasm:

I do like the changes overall, especially this one.

arrbez 11-27-2009 11:36 PM

*sigh*

Anything else I should change before writing another argument? ;)

Inglewood wins best-of-seven first round series 4-1.

Three stars for the series:
1. Doug Harvey
2. Frank Nighbor
3. Ted Lindsay

Nice work arrbez. First time meeting eachother, hope our next one will be closer.

Yeah, I thought it would be a little closer. Oh well, good series.
