Rangers All-Decade Worst Of The Worst: 1st Defense Pairing (Vote 2)

So after a close vote for third between Dave Karpa and Tom Poti in the second poll, I decided to include both, along with Ozolinsh, who was left off both polls for some stupid reason, meaning we will have 8 defensemen to vote to 7 spots.

Pick the two worst here. You're not trying to match pairing for anything other an inverse representation of their crappiness. So the worse they were, the higher up they should be. You're not trying to match offensive/defensive (for instance you don't need to try to match Ozolinsh and Purinton for the sake of creating a balanced pairing). Just pick the two worst.

Went Ulanov and Purinton here. These two were the absolute definition of worthless (except for Ulanov's "ability" to get us Pavel Bure).

That alone gives Ulanov a pass. I was tempted enough to vote for Quintal just for saying playing for the Rangers was hell. But i had to go Purinton and Pilon.

It's like a crap-tastic buffet of awfulness to choose from.

nyr2k2 11-25-2009 09:39 PM

Quintal and Karpa. Purinton would be next.

Still ridiculous that people are voting for Tom Poti. He never lived up to expectations but he wasn't even remotely close to being as bad as some of these others.

Yea the answer is probably Purinton. But I just can't stand Tom Poti. He sucks and only has a job in the league because Washington has such great forwards that they only need a decent defense.

Ulanov Quintal

...making Tom Poti a decent defenseman?

Poti is a decent defenseman and always has been. Most of the other guys on this list were flat out awful.

Quintal. If you're going to come to a team, take their money and play poorly, the least you can do is keep your mouth shut.

My problem with Poti is similar to my problem with Zherdev. Poti has the talent to be a Norris Trophy type of player. He doesn't play with enough consistency. And he's the only defenseman I've ever seen who would rather get hit than hit somebody. There were times he actually went out of his way to avoid contact.

Nothing I hate more than a player with all the tools but no heart.

I despised Dale Purinton when he was playing. Hard to believe that the guy is actually a coach now.

Quintal and his high expectation and terrible play along with his big mouth warranted my second choice.

Don't get me wrong i can't stand Poti to this day and boo'd him every game when he was with the Rangers but the guy is no where near the others on this list.

Agree.

I also voted for Hatcher who played like he ddn't give a damn.

I thought the other choices at least tried no matter how much they sucked.
