Jordan Murray
Does someone know him? I read he was signed by Quebec this week. He's still 16 years old and just started playing on defense. He should spend the rest of the year with the Moncton Flyers but a report on his potential would be greatly appreciated.

I found this article online at Hockeyscene.com:

RIVERVIEW, NB, November 25, 2009 - The success that a young Riverview resident is having this season as a member of the Moncton Markís Work Wearhouse Flyers has caught the attention of the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Jordan Murray has been invited by the Remparts to join Kelsey Tessier of Moncton and the other members of the team during the teamís current swing through Nova Scotia which includes stops in Sydney for a game with Cape Breton Screaming Eagles Thursday and Halifax for a game with the Mooseheads Saturday.

Murray, who had been invited to the team's training camp last August, was signed by the Remparts earlier this month and added to the teamís 55 man roster last week. He was called by a team official earlier this week saying that Head Coach Patrick Roy would like him to join the team for the trip and, if he was willing, the bus would stop in Moncton for him on itís way to Sydney.

Thrilled with the opportunity, he said yes. He will not be able to dress for the game in Sydney, since he has one more game to serve of a suspension received for check Saturday night in a playoff game at the Monctonian AAA Challenge, but will practice with the team.

A 16 year-old who will turn 17 next month, Muraay has played forward most of his hockey career but was converted into a defenceman this season by John DeCourcey, head coach of the Flyers, because of the team's shortage of experience in the defensive corps.

DeCourcey said in a conversation last week he was been pleased with the way he has responded to the challenge and the flexibility that provides.

Murray is 11th in league scoring this season, his first at the major midget level, with six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 13 games. Two of his goals have been game winners. He has accumulated 16 minutes in penalties. He was selected the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League Phantomwear player of the week in week one of the season.
I don't know much about him, but it looks like he has done fairly well with the switch to defense. He is 11th in league scoring as a defensemen in his first season at the major midget level. Looks like he has the potential to be a solid defensemen for the the Remparts within the next season or two.

Thanks a lot. He should be able to find a spot next year, we're gonna have only 3-4 comebacks on defense.
