Allen has made two great saves in the first 3 mins.

Cheli 12-20-2009 07:26 PM

Great save on MPS, he's bailed Canada out a few times.

Cheli 12-20-2009 07:45 PM

Junior Blues look solid tonight. Canada is up 3-0 and I think Petro got an assist on the first goal.

Erixon just ran over Allen but I think he's ok.

Petro just almost scored, he and Markstrom (the goalie) both thought it was in but he actually made the save.

edit: OK, I lied, Rundblad isn't having the greatest night. He had a pretty bad turnover just now...

Cheli 12-20-2009 09:43 PM

Canada won 6-2.

Pity Allen didn't get the shutout but he had an excellent game with several big saves, especially early on.

Pietrangelo also looked solid and made some good plays, I was wrong about the assist on the first goal but he got an assist on the 6th one.

Rundblad needs work on his defensive game, as advertised. He handles the puck pretty well though.

Cheli 12-22-2009 07:43 PM

Updated OP with the info vs Finland, Pietro's the only Blues prospect in the game as Jones will be in net for Canada.

BlueBeard 12-22-2009 08:34 PM

Pie just had a real nice corner snipe.

Anyone have the password?

The channel says I need an access code?

Edit: Nevermind. I found it.

What is it?

Joppy 12-22-2009 09:24 PM

For the one I'm using it is philthethrillkessel.

Cheli 12-23-2009 07:17 PM

Sorry, forgot about the password! Canada vs Czech is on right now, Allen is in net again.

Pietro got a great assist, fed Hall on a partial breakaway to tie the game 1-1.

Allen made a good play on the PP earlier, moved the puck up the ice quickly when the Czech cleared it so Canada got back into the zone within a few seconds. The goal that beat him was a deflection in front of the net off a point shot, don't think he could have done much.

Cheli 12-24-2009 02:48 PM

Canada beat the Czech 3-2 in their last exhibition game. Only real games now. OP is updated for the Boxing Day games, several Blues prospects in there.

Allen in his two exhibition games:
vs Sweden: saved 30/32 = 0.938 SV%
vs Czech: saved 20/22 = 0.909 SV%
Total: saved 50/54 = 2.00 GAA, 0.926 SV%

Pietro:
vs Sweden: 1A, 4 PIM
vs Finland: 1G
vs Czech: 1A
Total: 1G, 2A, 4 PIM

TSN has full games in their video archive, it might only be for Canadians though:

The non-Canadian junior Blues only had 2 exhibition games each, here are some stats:

Rundblad: 1G and player of the game (or "game dude" according to Google Translate) in 5-1 win over Switzerland

Warsofsky: 2 PIM in a 4-2 win over UND

McRae: 1A, failed SO attempt in a 3-2 SO loss to the Czech Republic

I think McRae, although slated on the 3rd line to start this tourney, will be a huge player for the US, and he will see his icetime elevated.

Cheli 12-26-2009 11:38 AM

Ugh, I'm going to miss the Canada game... I guess I'll watch the archive later, but that sucks. Latvia beat Russia in exhibition so it could be interesting.

Still no confirmation on who's in net but the general thinking/consensus is that it'll be Allen.

General Veers 12-26-2009 04:13 PM

Wow, look at Petro dish! :amazed:

stlweir 12-26-2009 05:01 PM

Pie 4 assists so far. I don't think Allen has had a difficult save. Slaughter.

execwrite 12-26-2009 05:20 PM

Canada just beat Latvia 16-0. There's something wrong with this tournament.

Russia only beat Latvia 3-2. What country would you put in instead of Latvia?

Not like the Czech and Sweden game was close, either.

I watched some of the Canada - Latvia game earlier, my tournament team could beat Latvia

Watching some of the USA-Slovakia game now in between the Blues game, haven't seen Mcrae once besides the pentaly he served, Warfosky doesn't look 2 bad ...

schronote 12-27-2009 11:46 AM

Well I got to watch all 3 games on nhl net yesterday and here's what I thought on our guys:
CAN
Alex P.- Latvia was awful so he dominated with good minutes and 4 assists. Played very effective against the weak competition and played physical.
Jake Allen- What 8 shots against, to easy to tell anything.
USA
Phil Mcrae- Might have earned himself some more minutes in upcoming games, I though he played very consistent and seemed to be a hard player to play against. I like how hard he is to knock off the puck along the wall, is very strong on his skates.
David Warsofsky- Did not play as well as in the game against North Dakota but he also wasn't seeing the 5 on 5 ice time he got in that game either. I think USA plays Ramage way too much, was very lost in his own zone and will get dominated by Canada or Sweden. But David made some nice plays and showed grit for a smaller dman. He made a few nice breakouts but I expect him to be much better in upcoming games.
SWE
David Rundblad- Sweden is loaded and Rundblad was wearing the "A". He was played in all situations and was out there for many of the goals for. He has a great set of hands and is smooth on the breakout but his backward skating and defensive positioning(gap control) will need some time. But with him wearing the "A" this year and being able to be on the team next year as well, I think we will see steady progression in his play.

Rediscoveryx 12-27-2009 11:53 AM

Rundblad is born late 1990 and won't be available next year. He should have a pretty good game against the austrian's. I predict one goal and three assists. :yo:

Canada beat Kazakhstan last year 15-0. It's unfortunate because Latvia avoided relegation last year. Canada is a consistent dominant force in this tournament and got stuck with the weaker group this year.

Group A: Canada, US, Switzerland, Slovakia, Latvia
Group B: Sweden, Russia, Finland, Austria, Czech

Actually it was the other way around... Latvia beat Russia 3-2 in exhibition, which is why I thought this game had potential to be interesting (i.e. not a massacre like it turned out).
