Left-Handed Fighters

who are the left handed-fighters in the league? Do they seem to have any significant advantage over their right-handed counterparts? I know BGL is one high-profile example, but are there many others?

As someone interested in the topic of handedness generally, it's something that I try to pay attention to.

Some examples of left-handed fighters (both past and current):

Tie Domi
Dave Brown
Aaron Downey
Jay Miller
Georges Laraque
Donald Brashear
Mike Keane
Riley Cote
Chris Simon

Carkner can throw both left and right.

I could be wrong about this but at one point I think the Bruins had 3 very good lefthanders at one time in;

Cashman, Secord and Jonathan

Not 100% sure of this, but for some reason, when I read this thread it popped into my head.

finchster 12-24-2009 04:17 PM

Terry O'Reilly was a lefty

Dagoon44 12-24-2009 04:29 PM

Joe Patterson
John and Dan Kordic
Darren LAngdon
Mark Jannsen
all very good with the left

Dunno but here Jonathan throwed one sick left.

I am not 100% sure but I think ryp is left handed.

I think he is right, I know this year he has been showing more left though due to a right wrist/thumb injury. He got the match penalty vs janssen because of tape on his hand, and if u watch the video u can tell he is throwing only lefts.

Mikey71 01-12-2010 02:36 PM

Brad Staubitz is a lefty. If you watch many of his fights, he looks like he is setting up at the beginning of a fight to throw rights, but then either switches just before starting or just after. Just ask Tootoo.
