Suddenly the playoffs don't seem as important now.....

Our thoughts are with you Pat!

Dan K 04-18-2004 12:36 PM

I was shocked when I read it on tsn.

Best of luck to Pat to get through this hard time, and my thoughts are with him and his family/friends. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

On a slightly selfish note, maybe this will inspire Saku to play with EVEN more emotion if that's possible. I mean he knows what Pat is feeling.

Vicious 04-18-2004 12:36 PM

Get well Pat. Best of luck to you.

Ya, they announced during yesterday's NJ game that Pat would be having a press conference about health issues today. But I never expected this.

loadie 04-18-2004 12:40 PM

Best wishes for Pat and his family...I hope he gets well soon. I hope and pray for a cure for this terrible disease one day.

eddy 04-18-2004 12:41 PM

That's sad :(

Get well soon Pat

Munchausen 04-18-2004 01:18 PM

I had a feeling this was the problem when they announced yesterday a non-hockey related press conference about Burns. The fact they waited for the series to be over and also because he missed two practices during the series for undisclosed personal reasons led me to beleive it was going to be such a bad news. Sad to see I was right. All the best to Burns, I hope he finds it in him to fight and win the battle.

I'm no expert in oncology but I am certain that treatment for this type of cancer has a very high success rate of treatment.

plafleur10 04-18-2004 01:37 PM

Best wishes, Pat!

Cancer has picked one tough opponent this time, and hopefully Pat will beat it!

I am a bit worried that they are talking chemo right off the bat, rather than an operation. I am no doctor for sure, but my mother died at 59 from colon cancer, and my recollection is that the first phase is often removing the tumor and the affected part of the intestine, if the problem has remained localized, so the projected initial treatment in this case might indicate some kind of spread...

Maybe someone with medical background can shed some light on this and, hopefully, demonstrate that my recollection is wrong (my Mom passed away 20 years ago).

Hang in there, Pat!

velimiiro 04-18-2004 02:20 PM

Colon Cancer when caught early is so treatable and beatable, Robert DeNiro had the same thing and he beat it so fast, he'll be fine...

BJCOLLINS 04-18-2004 02:43 PM

I'm a Pat Burns fan .....All the best to you and your family......................Get well soon Pat the NHL needs guys like you...........

Istvan 04-18-2004 02:56 PM

There are different types and different grades of colon cancer. Of great significance is the extent of disease at the time of diagnosis. Hopefully Burn's disease is limited to the colon without spread to other organs. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, often in some combination. I would not speculate on prognosis with limited information.

I wish Pat Burns the best and hopefully a full recovery.

KOMO_ROCKS 04-18-2004 06:01 PM

Best wished to Pat Burns
