The Chris Drury is WARM thread. 18 points in 36 games (and counting)|The Drury thread

All Drury talk here.

3 Goals, 1 assist in past 4 games and is +2.

I hate the man for his contract but Captain somewhat-clutch is stepping it up. He's not outperforming Gaborik or anything like that... But, he has lifted his game tremendously when this team needs it most.

Edit:Sorry, I had to bump this,

18 Points in 36 games. That's 41 Points a season.

Prior to this thread he had 9 points in 28 games... On pace for 26 Points this season.

TriFF51 12-24-2009 12:31 AM

It was the "Count down to 5 goals" thread that sparked him....Drury is one of my favorite players, hope he keeps playing well.

KotsyJr 12-24-2009 12:39 AM

I hope he keeps it up as well. Anything to help the Rangers win.

FLYLine24 12-24-2009 12:49 AM

Meh....tonights goal was deflected and he fell on purpose tonight because he knew he wouldnt score on the breakaway.

But at least we know this year he is DEFINITELY going to have a good Christmas.

:sarcasm:

EmDeeZee4MVP 12-24-2009 12:51 AM

By week's end, he goes on another 2 month scoreless streak.

That's the humorous aspect of it. It's being said somewhat facetiously.

darko 12-24-2009 01:30 AM

If 4 points in 4 games is being on FIRE then yeah I guess he is haha. Watch him go through January without scoring.

ecemleafs 12-24-2009 01:39 AM

alll about having a good christmas though.....hes earned it.

Alright if I missed that I apologize. Still hate the title!

FromTheSide 12-24-2009 02:55 AM

Dear god what have you done.....you should have kept blaming him for everything so he can one up you on saturday :sarcasm:

I had a feeling something like this would happen if Drury miraculously strung together a few good games.

Just wait til he goes off the map for another 2 months.

That being said I love the fact that he's scoring but I'm smart enough to realize it's not going to last.

exactly. i feel like since hes been so bad, that ANYTHING makes him on fire.

You should change the names "Chris" and "Drury" in the thread title and replace it with "Henrik" and "Lundqvist" LoL

I really love that Dru has turned it around. I just hope he can keep it going...

Oroku Saki* 12-24-2009 04:36 AM

I watched the game tonight and I was impressed. Rangers looked like a team tonight. That play by Gaborik was insane. The speed that man has on the ice..

Garfinkel1 12-24-2009 04:41 AM

He's finally shown up for a couple games. I know he's not oing anything great but at least hes helping the team for once. lets see if he ca keep up a 3p-5p/10game and ill be happy

Inferno 12-24-2009 04:51 AM

do it for more than 3 or 4 games.

show me something for 20-30 games.

King of cool 12-24-2009 08:56 AM

Keep them coming captain! :yo:

ck20 12-24-2009 09:13 AM

it's like with redden/rozi. they have 1 or 2 halfway decent/semi-good games and suddenly they've "turned their whole careers around." it's nice to see these flashes, but most know it won't be a long-term thing.

i don't think anyone is complaining about any of this happening though, so keep it up! :handclap:

UAGoalieGuy 12-24-2009 10:07 AM

up you jinxed it. now he will go 0 for the rest of the games until the olympics lol :D

Keep it up Captain.

Shake and Bake 12-24-2009 10:44 AM

After his goal at the Coliseum, Sather said of Drury [Brooks]:

Quote:

"Chris puts too much pressure on himself," Sather told The Post last night when asked if the captain’s steep decline in production was a concern. "He wants it so much. He wants to do well for the team so much that sometimes that gets in the way.

"That’s my only concern about Chris."

Drury was told of Sather’s comments. He was then asked how he can reduce the burden and pressure he puts on himself so that it is not a detriment to his game.

Drury:

Quote:

"The first thing is that I can’t be dragging the game around with me away from the rink, but that’s not always easy to do," No. 23 told The Post. "But that’s the first step. "And then when I’m on the ice, I have to make it as simple as I can by just taking it shift by shift and period by period without worrying about more than that."
----------

Drury's comments from last night, from Brooks:

Quote:

"I don't know if I looked at [being assigned to the fourth line] as a challenge, because I challenge myself every day when I come to the rink," Drury told The Post last night. "It's like I said after the Islander game on Thursday, that the biggest thing for me is to do less and not run all over the place trying to accomplish two or three things at once.

It was suggested to Drury that the demotion that followed a meeting with Tortorella must have been a blow to his ego.

Drury:

Quote:

"Hopefully I don't have an ego in that sense. I never come to the rink thinking I'm better than anyone else," Drury told The Post. "What kind of a teammate would I be if I had reacted with, 'Oh [expletive deleted], what am I doing on the fourth line?' What would that say to Brash [Donald Brashear] and Brian Boyle, who are usually on the fourth line?

"For me to react negatively to being given that assignment would be disrespectful to the team, to my teammates, and specifically to the guys who play that role every night. It would show up guys like Brash and Brian.

"Whatever I'm asked to do, I try and do to the best of my ability, whatever it is."

Brooks:

Quote:

If fans wonder why Drury is so well respected not only by his teammates, but also throughout the league even in a year where his production (5 goals, eight assists, 13 points) is so far down, these words should be explanation enough.
----------

Some people need to read some of these comments, really read them and think about them, and about the man Chris is, and be a more supportive fan. He's a good captain, he really cares about this team and doing his job, and he gives us the best he's got.

Sky Valley 12-24-2009 11:30 AM

"The first thing is that I can’t be dragging the game around with me away from the rink, but that’s not always easy to do,"

So, would you say you wouldn't want to let it ruin your Christmas...?
