I went there like a month ago to get Henrik Lundqvist's autograph. The downside of this place is they charged $80 for the autograph

Agreed. I will never understand this.

The place was expensive, but I'll go again. I think I dropped 220 at Henrik signing. 2 Jerseys and one Picture. He did sign by arm for free though, but the Tat was another 120.

Do I let Gabby sign the arm too? Hmmmmmm

Wait, wait, what? You need to elaborate on this.

You paid $120 to have Lundqvist sign your arm? Did he sign it with a tattoo gun? I'm confused.

Not only do I not understand autographs, I don't understand the fascination with meeting athletes. They don't care about you. It's usually awkward. And they're just people. People are so weird.

CaptainObvi0us 12-28-2009 11:11 AM

80 bucks - jesus. I heard of paying $20 before but that's insane

I just happened to be in the mall this weekend & saw a flyer on the front of the store. That's ridiculously overpriced

Why pay $80 plus train fair/car gas when you can simply get FREE auto's before every ranger home game? :help:

No. I had to pay the tattoo artist 120 to go over where Lundqvist signed my arm for free.

If I lived in NY I would do that, but I live in Jersey. When I do go to games I barely get there before the puck drops so it isn't really an option for me. Thats why I get to pay handsomely for autographs. Sucks, but Oh well. I am a Ranger nut.

Like he doesn't make enough money as it is.

If you want his auto just go to the Garden and wait outside before or after a game. Also trying to get into the practices are good too.

95% of the time the players put the money toward charity. That's chump change for them.

That's true, but I think the dude Buddy who owns the place pockets most of it. I just finished dropping almost 300 in that store and he tries to charge me another 2 bucks for a sleeve to protect my picture on the way out.

Exactly. Not all of us live in NY. Even being a season ticket holder and living in NJ, I get there with just enough time before the start of a game. Its hard enough getting out of work early, sometimes multiple times a week.

And to be honest, as big of a fan I am, $80 for an autograph is fine by me. Its not going to ruin my weekend... :shakehead

SkerZ 12-29-2009 09:27 AM

I can see some people saying its not worth it but I collect memerobilia and am more than 50 items deep. I don't regret any of the money I spent on any of the items and most are worth more than what I payed

007 12-29-2009 10:27 AM

No need to travel for folks in Manhattan: I ran into Gabby at a supermarket on the West Side last night... I didn't talk to him, as I didn't want to bother him, but the (gorgeous) woman he was with seemed to notice that I was glancing over at him rather a lot. Actually, it was because I didn't recognize him at first.

Fly
I am not trying what so ever to show anyone up here but 95% of the time they do not. I have done signing recently where the player takes his 5-12 grand and walks to the closest jewelry store and buys a chain or a watch. The charity signings are the ones the team runs. The ones like this one and the ones i do are for profit.

Dagoon44 12-29-2009 10:59 AM

I just called Gabby's agent and spoke to him and I will be doing a private signing with him, The price will be less then the public but not by much I will keep you all posted

Dagoon shoot me a PM when you have it booked & have the info, I'll put a post up on the blog for you

Well, you've got to figure the agent gets a cut as well, and it boosts traffic for the owners of businesses like Dagoon's, why shouldn't everyone get paid? The player is giving up his free time and making a commitment, so he's earnt something. Now whether they're over- or underpaid for this is another question, but the players and agents work for a living, just like anyone else.

Congratulations, by the way, Dagoon. With all due respect to guys like Prucha and Orr, Gabby's a big catch for your establishment!

Exactly and as much as it sucks that the price is pretty steep, that's the price that the market dictates. If no one was willing to pay $80 for an autograph then they wouldn't charge $80, but it seems that plenty of people are prepared to drop the cash to get an autograph.

Unfortunately Orr backed out on him, Aaron Voros took his place. I was planning to go see Orr
