For us we don't know our lineup yet, apparently Jerred Smithson and Jason Arnott are due to be back but JP Dumont and Joel Ward aren't completely healthly. On defense Cody Franson had a bad game and Alexander Sulzer may get a chance. And in goal Ellis should get the start.

jstreet 01-18-2010 10:00 AM

I hope Kessel gets a good taste of what could have been tonight!

Let's go predators!

Joe T Choker 01-18-2010 10:24 AM

all speculative here, but does Shea Weber put Kessel through the glass tonight ?

this team pitches a 1-0 shutout and a guy had a bad game? he had two bad shifts. i doubt trotz benches anyone other than young guys to make room for returning vets after that stellar defensive performance in calgary.

Sulzer and Thuresson last guys off the ice at the morning skate, likely scratches for Nashville tonight vs Toronto (Tootoo not quite ready).

The problem was that those 2 shifts were so brutal and could have easily cost us the game. Wasnt it 0-0 at the time? Jokinen walks apast him and rings it off the pipe. That was a tense time.

I chalk it up to rookie mistake but we will see how Trotz chalks it up tonight when the lineup is announced.

Go easy on us.

Some tidbits for the game tonight:

The Predators won their fifth straight away from home, the second-longest such streak in franchise history. The club also improved to 11-2-1 in their last 14 road games dating back to Nov. 12 Nashville swept all three Western Canadian teams in a single road trip for the second time in franchise history the only other time was Oct. 28-Nov. 1, 2006 The Predators handed Calgary its first shutout loss of the season.

Martin Erat has 19 points (11g-8a) in his last 18 games played dating back to the beginning of December. His 18.8 shooting percentage ranks ninth in the League.

The Predators have given up 15 goals in their last eight games, an average of 1.88 per game. In the 15 games prior to the current stretch, they gave up 53 goals, an average of 3.53 per game

The Predators have scored four-or-more goals in 16 of the last 30 games. Prior to the current stretch, they had just 3 four-or-more goal games in the first 18 contests of 2009-10.

I look forward to watching him every night, it is great to have that kind of player on your team.

thejlb* 01-18-2010 12:11 PM

Yeah and i've seen our number 1 defense pairing get skated around in a few games this season. Just gotta hope Franson took notice to it and hopfully it's just a learning experience I'm sure he doesn't want to have happen again.

smitty10 01-18-2010 12:25 PM

That sucks that Sulzer isn't playing, I was hoping to get a closer look at him tonight. As for Thuresson who will be playing for him?

I want it to happen just to watch Burke's head explode

vBookie all in on the Preds, dont let me down!

ThirdManIn 01-18-2010 01:28 PM

This will be the 11th all-time match up between the Predators and the Maple Leafs. Only the third game between the two clubs in Nashville. Seems fair, right? The good news is we are 6-3-1 in the ten games already played, and we are 2-0-0 in the games played in Nashville.

I hope the boys win tonight and take some momentum into a road trip featuring two teams we'll potentially be fighting for home ice in the play offs. Some good opportunities over the next two weeks to put more of a cushion between us and Detroit. Also a good time to get a tighter lock on fourth since it's probably as high as we can hope to get this season.

Did something similar. If they win, I cover pretty much all potential losses tonight.

First game back from a road trip is always a tough one. Nobody can explain it, but it's often a game where the legs take a while to get going.

ThirdManIn 01-18-2010 02:36 PM

I can explain it. Most of the guys have wives or girlfriends. They're worn out for obvious reasons

Actually, those types of activities are supposed to increase testosterone, thus increasing a male's physical abilities a slight edge for about a 24 hour period... ;)
