Rangers Prospect Poll: #13

Michael Sauer won round 12. He is the only player who was in the top-10 in the summer who fell out, but not by much.

There were 3 others who got over 15% so this round should be close.

The vote for the prospect to be added to the poll was also very close:
(Based on the HF guidelines of who's a prospect: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect)

Kveton: 8
Horak: 6
Dupont: 1
Valentenko: 1

Don't forget to vote who should be added this round and mention why you are voting for the guy you are voting for.

Hagelin add Horak

Hagelin's numbers in the NCAA are impressive enough to warrant his choosing over the remainder of prospects on the list who, outside of Bourque, have not much of a potential upside past the third line.

Beacon 01-18-2010 01:39 PM

Again going with Hagelin and now he seems like a slam dunk pick. There are no NHL-ready prospects like Heineken and Sauer left. Bourque hasn't done anything of note in QMJHL and wasn't that phenomenal in the WJC. Dale Weise is the only one whom I would consider, but while he's more ready, Weise also has less potential to be on the top two lines.

Byers? He'll probably only ever be a fourth liner but I think he's already prepared for that role and has played in the NHL this year.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not follow these prospects whatsoever?
I couldn't give a care in the world unless they're playing with the Rangers...

This is the "Hockey's Future" board. lol

Hagelin. Our most under-appreciated prospect.

Add Roman Horak. Having a very nice rookie season in the WHL.

These two posts pretty much sum it up for me.

NYR Viper 01-18-2010 03:11 PM

Weise add Klassen

SouvenirCity 01-18-2010 03:15 PM

Borque, add Dupont

eco's bones 01-18-2010 03:51 PM

Byers and Valentenko. Sorry I just don't see Hagelin as a top 6 forward. His upside is John Madden.

Inferno 01-18-2010 04:02 PM

bourque, horak

Beacon 01-18-2010 04:19 PM

Can the guys voting for Bourque explain their vote. I am not getting it.

N9Y4R 01-18-2010 04:31 PM

Weise
He and Byers are similar, probably 4th liners/3rd line upside. Weise gets the edge due to age. Great year at 21 in the A against men.

Byers next

Then Hagelin
Hagelin should win this round hands down. I just don't see his upside beyond the 3rd line, hope I'm wrong. Having a strong year at UM, still need to see him in the A.

Add Horak

I like his work ethic, his bloodlines, and the coach he has right now in juniors.

Weise, add Horak.

Add Gaulton. I get to see him play regularly and he's made a lot of progress this year. He's playing pretty well and Erie is using him in all situations. His slapper is back to its former awesomeness. Made a great recovery from his surgery.

Yup, Gaulton should definitely be up there very soon. The kid was a first round talent that slipped because of a major injury. Maybe his progress stalled as a result, but he's a solid prospect. If someone told me that a year from now he'll be in our top-10, I wouldn't be shocked.

Add Gaulton.

I was a big fan of the pick and followed him closely last year, but his performance was somewhat disappointing. Then again, if I'm not mistaken, it was Tommy John surgery he was recovering from and that can take 18 months even under ideal circumstances. I'd be thrilled if he's living back up to his junior draft potential - can I get a little more detail on how he's been doing recently?

Lier X Agerate 01-18-2010 10:56 PM

I've seen him play a few times this year, and he's been pretty good as of late. He's lost weight (from his usual 210 to 190) which is good for him, he's never been under 200 and is in extremely good shape. Over the summer expect this kid to be as strong as hell, he'll be training under one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in North America.

His defensive game is great, he knows where to be and how to break up a play. Every rush I saw steered away from him, as every time it did go near him, he broke it up or tied up the player.
