Ice Hockey Girdle vs. Roller Hockey Girdle

I was looking into buying a roller hockey girdle because playing in my ice pants is getting too hot and to cumbersome. Anyway I had a couple questions:

1) Can you put a shell over them, because I'm not into wearing Roller hockey pants, they look like BMX clothing to me.

2) Are they lighter and more easy to move around in?

Yes you can put a shell over a roller girdle, I did that prior to having a real set of pants.

Especially in a beer league it's not going to matter too much that you have a little less padding unless you're looking to make alot of sliding shot blocks.

Certainly much much cooler if you're playing in a hot rink.
