Horton to miss "extensive time"?

From Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel (posted this morning)

The news regarding winger Nathan Horton isn't promising. I'm hearing this morning that he's expected to be out at least a few weeks with his leg injury. More details later.

Lovely way to wake up to your Saturday morning, huh?

Guess Oresko's coming right back up? (If they sent him down to give him a message, I would prefer they bring someone else up. But whom? Or do both McArdle and Tarnskay now have a spot?)

Biggzy* 01-23-2010 09:10 AM

Let's bring up Repik.

Pantherkidd101 01-23-2010 09:16 AM

:scared:

We're doomed!

Laus723 01-23-2010 09:16 AM

ugh...sucks!

I'd rather they bring up Repik since he's got more of a scoring touch than Oreskovich.

Boooooth10 01-23-2010 09:25 AM

Ah crap. Just our luck too.

Rattrick 01-23-2010 09:46 AM

HAHA! This team can't even succeed at sucking.

FlaPnthrsPunk 01-23-2010 09:51 AM

UGH! I swear this team is never going to be fully healthy. Yeah, this is not exactly the first thing I wanted to read after coming onto the boards this morning. I want to see Repik be called up too. The kid has good potential, but I just don't think DeBoer sees it.

Mogo 01-23-2010 10:14 AM

This is the kinda situation any other pretty much calls up a youngster like Repik and they excel if given a chance on the top units. That never happens with this team and I don't think it ever will. We can only pray

StrangeVision 01-23-2010 10:28 AM

They're going to go on a 10 game winning streak. :naughty:

:sarcasm:

Who knows...with this team

And then go on a 10 games losing streak when Horton and Booth come back :(

But seriously...With Horton out for 6 weeks, this team is done. Close the book

billysbreakdown 01-23-2010 10:40 AM

Now Randy can blame the injuries for missing the playoffs... :shakehead

Yep, this unfortunately gives him a convenient excuse to use.

There's almost no way we make the playoffs now without Booth, without Horton, and with Weiss probably still not feeling 100%.

Great8Cam 01-23-2010 10:52 AM

We need a trade NOW. Even if it's a 3 for 1, because we needed a forward anyway.

Georgia Panther 01-23-2010 10:54 AM

According to GR, he's out 4-6 weeks with a broken leg!:(

panthersfan751 01-23-2010 10:55 AM

Gorten reporting now that Horton will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken leg (tibia). Good news is that surgery won't be needed for the tibia, but he's not expected back until after the Olympic break.

EDIT: GP beat me to it

gizmo12688 01-23-2010 10:56 AM

Perfect.

Time to sell off Seidenberg, Leopold and Moore for draft choices and play the young guys, Ellerby, Garrison, Matthias and Repik, to give them experience for our great season in 2010/11!!! Positive Vibs about the future of the Cats and let's treat this setback as an opportunity to achieve success next season!!! :)

Laus723 01-23-2010 11:02 AM

Holy CRAP!!! 4-6 weeks? Unreal. It sure didn't look good after he was hit, but wow.

Fire the trainer, he should've been able to take a shot off of his leg. :sarcasm:

Sigh.

Not going to happen

Teams don't trade during the season, can't believe that some people are still hoping for a trade.

The only trades I'm hoping for are us selling off some veterans.

True, but there's still a few weeks that he'll be out.

StrangeVision 01-23-2010 11:25 AM

Damn, I've got to say, seeing Horton out there in OT trying to play with a broken leg...I don't know how anyone can say he doesn't give it his all.

DeBoer says the next 10 games leading up to the Olympics will determine whether we're buyers or sellers. really, as I mentioned before, Sexton has this team set up to be either one with the one year contracts we have. I'm looking forward to it either way.

He is this season, Billy's touched on the difference with Nate quite a bit this season.

What do you mean? This pretty much guarantees us a lottery pick.
