2 Minute Minor 01-27-2010 02:38 PM

Sounds like Conklin is getting the nod tonight, but I can't confirm that. Since its a back-to-back it makes sense. It sure is nice to have a 2nd goaltender and not be worried about a drop-off whatsoever.

Overkamp 01-27-2010 04:57 PM

Conklin is in tonight. I agree it's nice to have two solid goalies who can share the duties and you can expect the same result from each of them. It's a nice problem to have, or lack thereof. This is the last Canucks home game for almost 45 days. Should be a tough, physical game. Hordichuck is in.

mmitchell19 01-27-2010 05:18 PM

JR tweets that Backes is in, playing right wing beside McClement & Steen tonight (sounds like Payne is forming a super-unit to shut down the Burrows-Sedin-Sedin line). I guess that means Oshie stays at center on the top line.

AS tweets that Janssen is the scratch to get Backes back into the line-up.

Policy question for the mods - do we need to cite / link to tweets?

Backes expected to suit up tonight, play right wing

George Bluth says you should always leave a note. MB2K8 has all the links to relevant twitters above, I'd say its important to site your sources always.

Carlo Colaiacovo, who is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, practiced with the team this morning and appears to be moving well. He could return from IR for Saturday’s home game against Columbus.

********

Without Colaiacovo, the Blues are using five forwards and no defensemen on one of their power-play units. This was the PP lineup was Andy McDonald, Keith Tkachuk, David Perron, Alex Steen and T.J. Oshie.

********

Vancouver Canucks’ beat writer Ben Kuzma wrote a story in the Vancouver Province this morning, suggesting that the Canucks should have signed Darryl Sydor last summer. Click here to read.

I expected a great gritty game from both teams, should be a beauty.

if you guys shut down the sedin/burrows line, and Luongo has a average game, you guys will win.

If the sedin's continue to dismantle teams, this game will be over in seconds.

2 Minute Minor 01-27-2010 07:20 PM

Wow, I love those lines. This should be a great game. Vancouver has been playing at a high level, so the Blues will need to really bring it tonight.

I expect Crombeen to look for a dance partner with Cam out and Crombeen on the 4th line.

No real beef with the lines.... buuuuuuut:

Anyone have a good explanation for Berglund being on the 4th line again? I've thought, with Murray out of the way, Berglund has been playing very well, maybe it's not showing up on the scoreboard yet, but he seems fiestier and hungrier. Is it just a matter of us having too many centers, or has Berglund fallen out of favor with Payne too? Anyone know anything about that.

I complained about it when Murray was doing it, so to be consistent, I'll complain about it when Payne does it.

It could come down to giving Berglund a manageable amount of time so he can build up a consistent 8-10 minutes or whatever he's been averaging the past few games. When he can bring a high level of performance for that period of time then give him a bit more and repeat the process. Winchester and Crombeen might not be the most skilled guys but they can cycle the puck and they'll go to the dirty area's on the ice so if Berglund can get some quality shots theres a chance they can collect the garbage or create some screens.

I know people love to hate playing matchups but if Berglund starts putting up some real good games against other teams energy lines it forces the opposing teams coach to put more than the crash and bangers against him which benefits our other lines.

Hey guys, just wondering what it would take for the canucks to get kariya

Just take him.

Overkamp 01-27-2010 09:40 PM

By reading quotes today I wonder how healthy Backes is and if he'll be able to contribute at/give 100%. I hope they aren't rushing him. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the quotes seem more hesitant or coy about his health. So Janssen is out and Hordichuck is still in anyway? Or did that change?

kfox9611 01-27-2010 10:02 PM

anyone have a stream for the game??!!?!

If the Blues decide to trade him at the deadline, I can't imagine any team giving up more than a second + a mid-level prospect.

Kariya-Oshie-Backes seems like a win to me.

WalterSobchak 01-27-2010 10:14 PM

beauty pass by McDonald, hope this settles them down.

Walt 1-0

BlueBeard 01-27-2010 10:15 PM

Dang that was a filthy pass!

WalterSobchak 01-27-2010 10:17 PM

**** Perry.

1-1

abel17 01-27-2010 10:19 PM

Perry creates a goal and then gives one up. Well we're back at 0-0.

TerminatorBlue 01-27-2010 10:20 PM

Two nice passes from Perron. This guy has talent but he makes some bad choices some times.

BTW I hate playing against Vancouver.

butteredtoast 01-27-2010 10:23 PM

Did the glass get shorter in Vancouver or something?

MissouriBlues2008 01-27-2010 10:23 PM

I'm listening on KMOX.

I hate DISH/FSMW.
