Poll: What Type of Player Should Habs Draft in 1st Round This Summer?

Barring a Cup win, the Habs should draft 18th overall in the 1st Round this summer. What type of player should they take with that pick?

1. A Crash n' Bang Power Forward with a Scoring Touch;

2. A Big-Minute Match-Up Two-Way Centreman;

3. A Puck-Moving Defenseman who can also Quarterback the PP;

4. A Hulking Big-Minute Physical Stay-at-Home Defenseman;

5. Other.

My choice is the number 5 we need a big defenseman like Cam Barker :D and i think we need size in montreal thats why i am very :banghead: because last year MOntreal pick andrei katsitsyn and the next team the flyers pick Jeff Carter :shakehead :shakehead

Dutchy 04-22-2004 07:44 PM

I say BPA.

Kerberos* 04-22-2004 07:46 PM

We need defensemen.

CH Wizard 04-22-2004 07:47 PM

While I always say best player available, if there's a big, physical, talented defenseman (preferably RH shot) who's available, that'd be my pick. Next choice? Big RH center with lots of offensive potential. After that it's ride the BPA bus.

4 for me Volabik is my target !

Kerberos* 04-22-2004 08:00 PM

Ach, you beat me to it.

As for the draft, I think we should go with the best available player, but if it comes to say, a tie between all of the above, I'd go for a big, right-shooting defenseman. Or a goalie.

Lafleur says the pick MUST be from Quebec.

RE-HABS 04-22-2004 08:20 PM

With all of our great picks and prospects we are still desperately in need of a Power Forward, Ryder is close but we need to draft a Guerin type winger.

Maithz 04-22-2004 08:24 PM

I think we need a Power Foward like I said every years lol :yo:

But If we can trade up for Barker , let's do it ! :bow:

PJ Wiggum 04-22-2004 08:36 PM

Why not try Stafford? He should be around when we get to the table. If not we could draft a big defenseman like Valabik.

Histrion 04-22-2004 08:39 PM

We'll take the best player available and that's it. This is how we should draft, not according on current need.

Cayouche5 04-22-2004 08:53 PM

1.PowerFoward type that can be available at 18th : Small chance of Ladd and Stafford but big chance of Adam Pineault, Bruce Graham ( Not a PF but 6'6 ) Adam Berti and Lukas Kaspar but i'm not very high on him.

3.Big Two-Way Center : Kyle Chipchura David Bolland* not very Big but Play Big ) and Carl Sodenberg

3.Puck Moving Defense : Mike Green, Andrej Meszaros*, Ladislav Smid, Sami Lepisto and Kyrill Lyamin.

4.Stay At Home Defense : Boris Valabik, Jeff Schultz and small posibilities of Wes O'neil

5.Offensive Players : Enver Lisin*, Roman Voloshenko, Evan McGrath, T.J. Hensick, Jakub Sindel.

*-->personnal favorites

Mooch 04-22-2004 09:20 PM

Best pick available.

We could always trade for other week positions!

eddy 04-22-2004 09:51 PM

A Crash n' Bang Power Forward with a Scoring Touch, been in search for one of these for a while now.

RE-HABS 04-22-2004 10:08 PM

Best player available after our 1st, lets take a chance on a Power Forward this year...we can afford too with our depth and ability in picking great late round picks.

J F M 04-22-2004 10:14 PM

I also say go with the BPA when we pick 18th (or 30th :banana: ) The Habs need to build quality depth regardless of the player's position. With that quality, trading to fill needs become easier. Does anyone here think that the Habs could've landed Kovalev without having prospects like Balej, Plekanec, Hossa, Hainsey, Perezhogin etc. ? Get the highest quality player EVEN if he turns out to be a goalie. This is every successful team's mantra: Draft for depth. Trade for need.

Howie Morenz 04-22-2004 10:51 PM

It's always BPA. And you hope that player addresses your needs.
