Voros and/or Brashear gone w/Prust a Ranger

Larry Brooks speculates about the futures of Aaron Voros and Donald Brashear

Quote:

Acquisition of Prust, 2d in NHL with 18 fights, may spell doom for either Voros or Brashear....or both.

Prust, who will turn 26 next month, has engaged in 18 fights this season, second in the NHL to Tampa Bay's Zenon Konopka. His acquisition certainly will have an impact on incumbent fourth-line pugilist Aaron Voros, extremely popular and respected in the room, and on Donald Brashear, who has been scratched from eight of the last nine games.

If Sather can remove Brashear from the roster without taking back salary for next season,I'm going to hold a pro-Sather rally. Plus 35 contract. Huggybear.

Voros is Avery's babysitter.

Vitto79 02-02-2010 06:19 AM

oh man if Sather can move Brashear and somehow Rozy while only taking on a few million over 1 yr or by some miracle a UFA physical Dman he will officially be forgiven................till the end of the yr :handclap:.......and the end of the yr only, haha

AJRanger 02-02-2010 06:20 AM

Voros has been much better these past couple of months, both in fights and in general play. If they can find a way to remove Brashear then i'll rejoice.

eco's bones 02-02-2010 06:21 AM

Voros has actually fought pretty well at times this year. Considering the amount of games he's played he's been active. I don't think he's quite as good at it as Prust is. Prust is too small to be a legit heavyweight though. I'm looking forward to our next meeting with the Flyers Carcillo. I'd be more inclined to keep them both and get rid of Brashear.

Ih8theislanders 02-02-2010 06:41 AM

Don't get rid of the Don. Never go against the family.

Voros>

Cynical TyranT 02-02-2010 06:42 AM

Cya huggybear!

Gotta keep Voros. He's the Nick Swisher of the team

I agree, Prust - Boyle - Voros, Voros gives 110% every game, which you can't say for most of this team. Brashear is old and slow and 99% useless...

Lion Hound 02-02-2010 06:47 AM

Prust is no heavyweight, and I am definately a fan of having a Heavy on the roster. But in this scenerio...I have to admit, I would rather see Voros over Brashear. At least he does the job asked of him. Donald seemed to enforce on his won terms and I definately still wonder if he's really into it at this stage in his career?

FromTheSide 02-02-2010 07:27 AM

idc if prust isin't a 'heavyweight" he fights like a lion and for i have 1.4million reasons to hate brashear.Get it done slats!

nyr2417 02-02-2010 07:45 AM

prust also has a +2 rating, odd for a 4th liner

I'm definately happy he's here no question. A guy like him was sorely missed for the first half of the season.

Whoa! Clash in the streets, 3/7/10!

I really can't see a scenario where Brashear is removed from the team AND the payroll other than LTIR. No one is trading for him unless he's accompanied by an actual Ranger asset. I'm just not prepared to give someone or something away to solve a problem like Brashear.

yankeecpt15 02-02-2010 08:09 AM

let slats the magician flip brashear for willie mitchell (ufa) and finally admit his redden eff-up, then just perhaps we may be on the road to recovery...Maybe

Hockey Team 02-02-2010 08:13 AM

Can't the rangers/brashear just fake an injury and stick him on LTIR?

I'm sure brashear will have no problem with it. His only interest is collecting his paycheck and he can still do that while at home.

You realize they have to report what the injury is right?

"Donald Brashear, Out Indefinetly with bruised left pinky"

Celestial Black 02-02-2010 08:31 AM

I'd rather have Prust then the both of them.

pwoz 02-02-2010 08:39 AM

Voros has been excellent on the forecheck lately, and Boyle has been good. Add Prust to that line (and remove Brash) and we have a solid 4th.

I dunno what exactly the rules are for LTIR, but I'm sure they could come up with something if that's what their goal is.

Rozsival to NSH

Bouillon to NYR

Do it, do it now.

Then just send Huggy to Hartford.

WhiskeyDeke 02-02-2010 08:53 AM

I'm for keeping Voros. He and Avery are the NHLPA reps, he's a great team guy as well.

WhipNash27 02-02-2010 08:53 AM

Agreed, keep Voros around and send Brashear to Siberia.

Huggy still counts against the cap due to age.

Voros-Boyle Prust

silverfish 02-02-2010 09:06 AM

The longer AV doesn't update his twitter the more I hate him :p:

No but seriously, the past month or so, since he started getting consistent playing time he's been a good fourth liner. If it really comes down to one or the other it better be Brashear.

JL17 02-02-2010 09:10 AM

Prust will go with anyone. He fought Steve MacIntyre last year after and hit on Dustin Boyd.

Brandon is a smart fourth liner. He has a hockey IQ. He was about the only person in junior hockey to hold Crosby to zero points. He did that in the 04/05 Mem Cup. He had some offense to him in his junior and AHL days away well.
