Glennon reported yesterday another new lineup for the Preds...

Sullivan - Arnott - Hornqvist
Smithson - Legwand - Ward
Erat - Goc - Tootoo
Jones - O'Reilly - Dumont

The first meeting of the O'Reilly brothers (Cal and Ryan) at the NHL level...should make for an overused storyline this evening...

Great work getting the nice GDT's started again!!! :yo:

lstcyr 02-04-2010 06:20 AM

Cal 3, Ryan 2

Jonesey 02-04-2010 08:59 AM

brings a tear to my eye!

I was just about to start making it for today's game too!

our internet at work is back on for the time being.. lol

BigFatCat999 02-04-2010 10:29 AM

I'd like to thank Spank for making the GDT. The mods are 0 for OH gawd! in GDT records. Nashville might get a win out of this yet!

(And Cal might just take the Colorado charter with his brother after the game if a trade is made.)

NYVanfan 02-04-2010 10:31 AM

WHAT is the deal with Dumont on the 4th line???
He's been very disappointing in my fantasy league this year after being so solid for years. The Preds have 4 games this week, but I'm considering benching him for Guerin, who has 3 (and who also has been cold...) Any insight into how long this banishment is liable to last?

cheers

golfmade 02-04-2010 10:38 AM

Great looking GDT, back to form.

Preds win 3-2 in OT with the GWG from J.P.

MemphisMTLfan 02-04-2010 11:17 AM

This will be my first positive prediction in a while. Lord help me. :shakehead

Preds win it 4-1.

The lone goal against will be an Av PPG right off the faceoff on a Suter interference call.
Shea Weber will hurt someone with his widowmaker.
Klein might fight someone. Who knows?

Goc scores off a rebound in the 1st
Horny with a PP goal in the 2nd
Dumont scores one in the 2nd at an awkward angle
Smithson does something interesting and notches the 4th goal late in the 3rd.

People will be happy. The heavens will open up and Tim McGraw will be heard all around the world. Arnott with get his Wings.

OR, we could completely suck and lose 6-2. It's your choice and yours alone. Good luck.

Mules 02-04-2010 11:19 AM

Who will start in the goal, guys?

San Nashlanta 02-04-2010 11:38 AM

Woke up with a huge craving for Rippy's BBQ. Man I can't wait to visit Nashville again. Anyways, this game's important. We need all the points we can get.

I'll venture a guess: 2-1 Nashville. I don't care who scores, just want a win.

Jonesey 02-04-2010 12:15 PM

to quote Al Davis "Lane Kiffin is an idiot, and just win baby!"

No update yet from either the Tennessean or Twitter, but if I had to guess...my money would be on Rinne again.

Trotz has been trying to get a goalie hot and Pekka thus far has been pretty good the past two games and especially since the third period against Atlanta...

And Rinne basically had a shutout vs. Phoenix. Might be a modification of the shutout rule for Trotz.

Actually, technically speaking both Rinne and Bryzgalov did in fact get credit for shutouts...

Oh yeah, and the shutout rule has been dead for two seasons now...

Yeah, Dumont has slid down the lineup for quite awhile now and is finally on the fourth line, but if you really look at our lines...all four are balanced and Trotz will look to roll them.

I expect Dumont to get about 12-14 minutes tonight, but regardless...I benched him in my league today.

Stories 02-04-2010 12:56 PM

Assuming similar lines to the last game (we dressed 7D last game and rotated them in and out all game):

Wolski-Stastny-Stewart
Galiardi-Duchene-Yip
McLeod-O'Reilly-Svatos
Mercier-Random guy-Tucker-

Quincey-Hannan
Wilson-Foote
Cumiskey-Clark-Liles

worstfaceoffmanever 02-04-2010 01:02 PM

I say we come out flying, take a 4-0 lead into the first intermission... and lose 5-4.

Seth Lake 02-04-2010 01:03 PM

And the morning skate Tweet is up from Predators radio announcer Tom Callahan:

Quote:

Anderson vs. Rinne tonight. Franson out w/ broken rib (2 wks). Sulzer up tonight. Hejduk not back yet, but is skating for Avs.
http://twitter.com/predsradio/status/8642988987

Gotta look to make life more difficult on Anderson tonight than we did against Bryzgalov. More traffic and definitely more pucks to the net. You can rest assured that the refs tonight will have seen the Anderson-Hornqvist "no goal" last week and will either really over call any contact with the goalie or let it go completely...

David Singleton 02-04-2010 01:07 PM

Seth, I assume we can expect poor ice conditions again?

Definitely...don't expect to hear the teams stop complaining about the ice conditions until at least after the Olympic break when the ice has had time to fully settle and has been skated on repeatedly.

Realistically, what I would love to see them do is offer the ice to local youth and high school teams to practice on for a few hours a day (on non-game days) to skate on and work out the kinks without having to break it in during NHL regular-season games for so long!

Tonight, don't expect to see too many skill plays. Tonight will be all about "gritty, not pretty" and I hope the players take a "grip it and rip it" attitude to the ice with them...

volzok 02-04-2010 01:58 PM

The ice should be a little better tonight than Tuesday, shouldn't it? I know there was the complaining after the Atlanta game, but didn't the wrestling Monday night affect it? Maybe I'm off on this.

I'm glad Rinne is going tonight. I really hope this is the start of him taking the number 1 spot. Regardless of the team scoring, I think we all would feel a little better about this team going forward if someone really steps up in goal.

Obviously scoring first has been big for the Preds. I would really like to see them set the tone early and net one in the first 10 minutes and get everyone into it. I don't know if we can take another long night where they are playing catch up.

why is Trotz gonna give Arnott and Dumont 40 minutes of ice time together?

Complaining about effort, players not driving to the net, Most of the complaining about the 4 million dollar guys and Crispy saying up to 7 players need to step up their game. No names of course.
