Why?

Unless they need to call someone else up or a trade is forthcoming.......

CBGB recently speculated that Clune might get a call up. But more likely, we have an upcoming acquisition and need a roster space.

RightKinger 02-10-2010 11:27 AM

Could be something...is probably nothing but watch Eklund post an E4 to LA.

Zal 02-10-2010 11:27 AM

And here comes a Kings deal. Unless like Bunny Foof said, they're calling someone else up?

Or Harrold is staying as the 12th forward

If that's the case, what a waste of a good prospect.

He's always been up. And there would be no need to waive Segal to create a roster spot.

So why waive Segal?

Yog S'loth 02-10-2010 11:32 AM

Strange move by LA. There's no real need to make any internal roster changes. Segal has played as well as could be expected for someone in his role. I doubt this really signifies any kind of trade, but it does seem like odd timing for the Kings to be contemplating a swap of Segal and a minor-league forward.

Johnny Utah 02-10-2010 11:33 AM

Segal has one goal and barely two fights...considering we've played the Ducks, Sharks numerous times since I would expect he would be more involved.

Mike Jones 02-10-2010 11:34 AM

Why is McKenna being waived? Isn't he on an AHL contract or something? Are these recall waivers?

BigKing 02-10-2010 11:35 AM

If it's not a trade then hopefully Clune is being called up. This team can use a spark at times in the way of a scrap but they don't have anybody to do that really. Clune would be that guy and you won't miss him when he is in the box.

I'm curious as well. I thought he was on an AHL contract and with that said he has outplayed Frazee and his numbers (GAA, SV%, wins) are all Top 12 in the A so there wouldnt be a reason to demote him?

Maybe it was the whooping he got from Prust!

I'd love to see Clune, but this late in the season? I would think Lombardi is trying to get a veteran to plug into that spot. I can't see a rookie having to take on that responsibilty for playoff-style hockey at this point in the season.

AfroThunder396 02-10-2010 11:40 AM

McKenna is obviously going to be called up because Brodeur has been traded to make room for Kovalchuk next year.

Because maybe Terry Murray has told Lombardi he has no intention of using him again any time soon.

I do agree though, the Kings are going to make a trade.

Sounds logical enough. I bet it'll be a surprise like the Willams deal.

And risk losing him for nothing?

Question for theCBA experts: The AHL conditioning stint is still around right?

OurGocIsAnAwesomeGoc 02-10-2010 11:50 AM

ah, brandon segal. we once hoped he could be another scott hartnell type player, after he had some good years in juniors\good prospect camps.

alas.

Isn't that only coming off of IR that you can use that? He's been healthy and playing, to there goes that idea, if that's the case.

RightKinger 02-10-2010 11:56 AM

Segal is not bad and he could still develop into a decent fourth line guy.

Still All In 02-10-2010 12:13 PM

Good luck to Mikey McKenna, wherever he ends up. Just a great person. Went way out of his way last year, even on a bad lightning team, to meet as many fans as possible and just be a nice person.

Cool guy. World needs more people like him.
