Washington putting together a deal for Kaberle

Berger told Augello, who speculates that Alzner may be the centerpiece

I heard this as well on the FAN590 from Berger.

He mentioned Della Rovere as well but it's pure speculation. He was pretty much saying Washington has a lot of pieces to give up without hurting their current roster to make a run at the cup.

pspot 03-03-2010 09:53 AM

I've said for a while now

Alzner or Neuvirth
Fehr
1st

for

Kaberle

then flip either Alzner or Neuvirth for a C

TimeZone 03-03-2010 09:53 AM

I call BS. Kaberle is staying until the summer at least.

Mike in Buffalo heard it on the radio that Berger said this. Dude doesn't seem to have a single independant thought, nor does he seem to have any connections.

I agree.

And wouldn't Alzner be a bit redundant on our blue line? Great prospect but certainly not a needed prospect for us? No?

Fehr or Osala would certainly be players I'd covet.

I really hope this isn't BS... I really really do. But i'd call BS on this aswell.

Kessick 03-03-2010 09:57 AM

I'm surprised they need Kaberle. I always felt they needed more defensive defensemen.

But I doubt it, Kaberle will be here at the end of the day. He's the consummate survivor of trade speculation - we tried to trade him for Lecavalier, Lindros, Carter, Kessel and yet here he is.

Honestly,Can we go after a skilled forward prospect for once?

If he was available thats quite a stacked future blue line IMO, Aulie Phaneuf, Schenn, Alzner, I know im forgetting other people but god damn that's ruthless

embracedbias 03-03-2010 10:00 AM

Alzner? How many defensive defensemen do we need?

Carlson, on the other hand...:naughty:

Bomber0104 03-03-2010 10:02 AM

i'm not that big of an Alzner fan... we got to get offensive d-men of anything since Phaneuf and to a lesser extent Beauchemin are our only offensively capable d-men for the time being

Not Lindros.

We tried to give them Markov. They insisted on Kaberle and Quinn said no.

Its about acquiring assets at this point not necassarily fit

Alzner is a prospect with good value which could be moved to a team needing d prospect at the draft.

TasteLikeBurning 03-03-2010 10:05 AM

Not another d-man lol.

Cappo40* 03-03-2010 10:08 AM

I want ONLY Ovechkin for Kaberle

:D:sarcasm:

Just only Ovechkin.... I think they gotta throw in a 1st, and maybe we'll consider it. Otherwise massive overpayment on our part.

This is starting to sound like the Flyers... Clarke stubbornly refusing to get them a goalie when they badly needed one. Leafs need scoring forwards now... period.

like say, Alzner for Hodgson?

Brozak 03-03-2010 10:13 AM

I'm done with young players who haven't shown anything really special. Kaberle stays.

exactly, not sure where Alzner's value is but something exactly like this

you can't rebuild unless you have assets to move.

A top five pick in 2007 who has played 51 games in the NHL

selltrade 03-03-2010 10:26 AM

A Alzner acquisition to go with Aulie from the Dion deal might make Luke available.. Just saying
