My New Favorite Thread: Dean Lombardi On Frolov
My favorite player is Frolov and boy was I happy when I read Hammond's interview with Dean Lombardi about Fro today:

<3 Frolov |
Bull**** he forgot about it.
Dean's either really smart, really an a-hole, or thinks we're stupid. Maybe all three. But I do like the team he's built so I'm not complaining. |
LOL, that was pretty funny.
It's interesting that he says Frolov was never considered to be traded, but not until after the trade deadline passed. It's very interesting that teams don't like to tip their hand on anyone. Nashville said that Hamhuis will NOT be traded, at 11:53 a.m. PST. Seven minutes. It is clear that they never considered trading the guy, but held out until the very end. |

Great story!
I'll give DL the benefit of doubt on this one. Sometimes, people do forget the obvious. Bottomline is Frolov is with us for the remainder of the season and I'm glad he is. |
Negotiating tactic?
This is the time for Fro to show Lombardi that He wants and deserves to be here. Score one for the gipper Frolov! |
If it was a motivational tactic, I doubt it would end up getting told to Hammond.
And Lombardi has never said anything even remotely close to "Frolov is available" - not once. He discussed letting him walk as a free agent and the value of re-signing him compared to his contributions, but never anything about trading him. |
An entertaining read that's for sure - glad to have Fro around, he deserves the playoffs. He's been a very good player on miserable teams and he should get a taste (or more) of the playoffs.
|
DL is getting in Frolov's head. I don't but for a second that he forgot. DL is like Phil Jackson without the tact, charisma and respect.

Dean Lombardi strikes me as the kind of guy who forgets to eat dinner because he's so deep in a thought most would consider trivial. Look at the way he talks. It takes him five minutes to make his point, and half an hour for him to finish because he needs to restate the point six more times. I don't doubt that he genuinely didn't think about how Frolov would feel being called into the office near the trade deadline. There aren't enough hours in the day to overthink every angle on how to build a hockey team and to also overthink interpersonal relations. Comparing his longwinded hockey interviews versus the murmurs about his player relations, we know which direction he points his brain at. I don't think DL is a bad guy but he's definitely not terribly sensitive towards others. If this was meant as some sort of mind game, I don't think he'd be telling Rich Hammond about it.

LOL at the conspiracy theorists.
This interview RULES. |
I guess Frolov kept leaving wet towels on the floor and DL had to give him a talking to about it, but Frolov thought they were gonna break up.
|
That'll teach him for making Dean read a book.

The Russians...
You know my X-GF a Russian called me before the Olympics were too far along and asked what I thought of the Russians... I said I am peesed Ooof at them cause they did not invite Fro! So to hades in a hand basket for them! And Wah Lah! I watched them play the better teams and they really did miss Fro's style game alot not just a bit! But a heck of a lot! They got exactly what they deserved...
So next Olympics get the clue and get one of your elite's in there so its not all flash and spalsh! Crazy Ruskies! Oh and this was a funny story I liked it alot. Now DL as your done busting on Fro sign the guy would yah! You see his countries team blows with out him think of our poor guys if we're Fro-Less! |
Well that also proves that Frolov was under quite a bit of pressure about getting traded...and perhaps he was dealing with this since October. Certainly would account for his down year.
His game certainly picked up (although 1 game) after the break. Hope this means the return of the 30+ goal scorer we came to expect from him. This, and Williams returning, would be the best "trade" that the Kings could hope to make. |
