Don't forget, Habs fans...

...I know this thread, the whole "Yeah even if you lose, you still have plenty to be happy about" thread, has probably been done a few times already, but I haven't been around in a few days so you'll have to excuse me.

In any case, even if the Bolts win tonight, you still have plenty to be happy about. A great team that many thought would finish near the cellar, making it to the 2nd round? And facing off against a President's Trophy team that isn't any slouch.

And look at some of the 1st round teams that didn't make it:

-The Devils, defending Stanley Cup champions, out in the first round.

-The Stars, with the 3rd (I think?) highest payroll in the league, almost swept.

-The Canucks, perennial underachievers, ousted once more

-The Bruins, with dreams of a lengthy Cup run, squashed

-Most importantly, my beloved Ottawa Senators, gone again.

I would have preferred beating the Leafs and getting swept in the 2nd round, than losing in the 1st round.

So, in any case, you guys have a pretty solid team to be proud of, great goaltending, and don't forget - you guys were supposed to be in the rebuilding phase, weren't you? And yet, you got to the 2nd round of the playoffs!

So hold your heads up high, guys. Maybe this year isn't your year, but I'm sure your team'll be back to compete next year (or whenever hockey resumes, I guess... :shakehead)

And to think that the best is yet to come with all our young prospects in the system, some may not pan out, but i'm sure a few will, which is better than most teams...

4sho!

And most people don't even know the quality of players we have in Hamilton, I mean when I look at the Leafs and all their injury problems and they call up a guy like Clarke Wilm and play Wade Belak, I tell myself..."is there not anything else in the minors?" Teams like the Leafs will be in BIG TROUBLE when the new CBA is in place, no more building your team through FA and trades like before...the balance of power in the Northeast is slowly shifting... ;)

i don't know about a few guys, i've never been a big fan of Carlo Coliawhatever and a guy like Marcel Hossa who's rated our 7th best prospect on HF would probably be there 1st prospect, Leafs are screwed! that's probably why there fans are so desperate for them to win a Cup, cause they know it's probably there last chance, doushbags! :joker:

Actually he makes me think of Hainsey in some ways, although I think that Hainsey has a higher potential...I forgot about Stajan, he's one Leaf I like, i'm actually a big fan of Stajan and I think he'll be a solid player, good thing the CBA is coming up cause JFJ would of traded him next year for an old overpaid veteran...seriously, Leafs need to look at there situation, what happens when next year or maybe in 2 years, Belfour, Leetch, Johansson, Roberts, Mogilny, Nolan, Francis, Nieuwendyk all start worrying about filling their viagra prescriptions rather than the opponents nets?

Even Sundin is not getting any younger...

Ya i heard Moginly is retiring this summer as he sold his house. Im sure Roberts will go soon as well, and the last i heard Belfour rejected a new contract. However if the Leafs win the cup he gets a contract extension for one year at 8 mill, but what are the chances of that happening. One day, not too long from now, we will rise and look down at the Leafs!!!

I say again, the future is blindingly bright!!!

I agree with the Habs fans here on this thread, believe it or not. Your team will be a force in the next 2 or so years and well beyond, especially in a post-CBA world. And the Lightning will be too, for quite a while, as some of their best players (Richards, Lecavalier, Afanasenkov) are still under the age of 25. This should become a VERY entertaining rivalry, and it'll be hockey as it's meant to be - free-flowing, quick skating, hard-hitting, with nary a "trap" to be found.

Good luck tonight and in the future.... it indeed looks "blindingly bright," for both teams. :yo:

Heres to a future Hab vs Bolts Sem-final

I love that we're still in the process of building a team yet we're in the second round of the playoffs while teams like the Canucks, Senators, Bruins, Stars are done.

A toast to George Gillette Jr., Andre Savard and Bob Gainey!
