Rank The Sharks: Who Should Stay Addition!

Instead of the typical, rank the best player, or grade the performace thread. I'm curious as to what order people would place on the importance of retaining players. I'm only going to include players that I have a full or semi full time roster spot (like McGinn and Demers and not like Couture or Ferrieo)

Here is my list:
Boyle
Heatley
Vlassic
Pavelski
Murray
Malhotra
Thornton
McGinn
Demers
Marleau
Nichol
Clowe
Mitchell
Setoguchi
Nabokov
Huskins
Ortmyer
Staubitz
Walin
Leach
Greiss
Blake

Obivously, being on the bottom of the list means you have the lowest priority in being retained. I'm curious as to what you other people think. Go ahead flame away, but please make a list of your own.

This is assuming that we do not go past the second round, I'm leaning towards:

Boyle
Marleau
Pavelski
Heatley
Seto
Nichol
Malhotra
Vlasic
Murray
Clowe
Ortmeyer
Mitchell
Thornton
Nabakov
Blake
Staubitz
Wallin
Leach
Huskins
Greiss

sharks have lost 3 regular season games in a row :clittle: you have to admit it makes this forum more interesting when they lose  :shakehead:

Kinda doesn't really follow the topic, but this is what I'd like to see next season if we get booted from the playoffs early again this year.

Heatley - Marleau - Seto
Clowe- Pavelski - xxxx*
Mcginn - Couture - Malhotra
???? - Nichol - Staubitz

Boyle - Murray
Vlasic - xxxx*
Demers - Wallin

Nabby
Greiss

*It's not too far-fetched to believe that Jumbo would return us a top 4 defenseman and a top 6 winger.

Or just UFA them, and pickup some quality prospects and draft picks.

SactoShork 03-17-2010 06:34 PM

i did my list... but it looked more like a depth chart or scoring race. I think the cap hit for next year woulda been about $87 million. haha

Artful_Dodger* 03-17-2010 06:35 PM

Wilson should be included and he would probably be DFL.

SonomaShark 03-17-2010 06:37 PM

Addition? we need subtraction before addition!

3 in a row, 4 of their last 7, with their 3 victories requiring 3rd period comebacks.

it's not that they've lost 3 games in a row, it's that they're lucky to have not lost 7 in a row (8 in a row, or 9 of their last 10, if you want to go right before the olympic break).

I say we package and trade some of the other players (e.g. Nabby, Clowe, Huskins,) and get some draft picks or legit mid range players **Definite go after a good D-man**
LET BLAKE GO!!!!! We don't need a bag of bones on the bench/ice

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 03-17-2010 06:58 PM

If we're booted 2nd or earlier

Keep

Boyle
Marleau
Pavelski
Heatley
Seto
Nichol
Malhotra
Vlasic
Ortmeyer
Mitchell

Not keep

Murray
Clowe
Thornton
Nabokov
Blake
Staubitz
Wallin
Leach
Huskins
Greiss

All the guys from Worcester should be kept...McGinn, Demers, Joslin, Vesce, McLaren etc.

I really like your list. i would probably let nabby walk if he wasn't going to sign a 2 or 3 year deal max 4 mil/year. I think they will sign turco to a 2 year deal and then go with stalock.

Unless he's starting I think they keep Stalock in the AHL

I think hes saying keep Stalock for 2 years in the AHL, sign Turco, and then after 2 years go with Stalcock as the number 1, assuming he is ready at that time.

Do you think that the Sharks brass would really do that. I don't think they are ready to fire DW regardless of the result. I'm not saying it would or wouldn't be the right thing to do. I just don't think they will let hiim go. Although I think it is much more likely to do it if they fail this year than last year.

yes, maybe even have stalock challenge turco in 2 years

SJeasy 03-17-2010 09:59 PM

Slight twist on the list because of my post in another thread.

Going from stay to go, top to bottom:

Ricci
McLellan
Marchment
DW
Tim Burke
JFJ
Roy Sommer
Wayne Thomas
Trent Yawney

Matt Shaw is too new and Woodcroft hasn't had a major role . . . yet.

So tmac goes first or other way around. Sorry for my dyslexia.

TMac stays. Yawney goes. Check the edit because I would put Ricci above Tmac to stay.

Kitten Mittons 03-17-2010 10:23 PM

Yep. Yawney needs to go. On the other hand, it was McLellan who wanted him in the first place, no? He should be ***** slapped for that too.
