April 2010 - Kaberle Discussion Thread Kaberle Kaberle Kaberle Kaberle

Replacing the previous Kaberle thread:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=741682

Carry on, we may need monthly Kabs stickies approaching the trade deadline. )

Hurt 04-01-2010 11:52 AM

Will probably be merged into the Kaberle thread like the other two with the same thing posted.

Falon 04-01-2010 11:53 AM

I am telling you right now. Kaberle will be a member of the Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils or Boston Bruins.

That will maximize his value as he will resign in all three cities. My best guess is Buffalo, Stafford/Butler/1st.

Butler takes Kaberle's roster spot. Stafford is a good 2-way top 6 forward. The Sabres bring in a star defenseman to mentor Myers. The Leafs recoup a 1st. Burke drops Finger in the minors and signs Jokinen in the off season.

Jokinen-Bozak-Kessel
Kulemin-Garbo-Stafford
Stalberg-Hanson-Caputi
Sjostrom-Mitchell-Orr

Phaneuf-Schenn
Beachemin-Komisarek
Gunnarson-Butler

Kadri spends one year in the AHL, or less, if Garbo plays well enough to get traded.

Porn* 04-01-2010 11:55 AM

he's wrong... and should pull the **** up and start playing well.

he started on a tear, and now he's just been absolutely brutal... RW is perfectly fine n calling hm out.

GE0 04-01-2010 11:56 AM

Interesting.

Kaberle's half-ass, weak sister act is wearing thin on me.

I've thought for months that Burke would trade him this summer, I'm even more sure of it now.

Dave from Vancouver 04-01-2010 11:58 AM

Kaberle today.

"I'm here over 10 years in the league and I've never (had an) issue with the coach and I hopefully never will."

Stephen 04-01-2010 11:59 AM

Kaberle has been playing very spotty defense and for a guy who is so adamant about remaining here, he seems to be sleepwalking. That said, everybody knows what it's like to work for someone who doesn't give you a fair shake, and Kaberle hasn't been getting a lot of the plum assignments or ice time he's used to (where he succeeds). At this point, I think it's probably best the two parties part ways at the end of the season.

Yup.

Simmons is at it again. When was the last time that this arse-hole wrote anything that had a positive impact on the team?

This guy spends his time looking for controversy, for dissention, for any reason to criticize.

He's a parasite making a living by stirring up *****.

Now he's made Kaberle's last few weeks in a Leaf uniform even more uncomfortable, by having reporters thrusting microphones in his face.

I hope he's happy. If I were a member of the team and he asked me a question, I'd tell him to go to hell.

I can't even describe how upset I'll be if thats the package we get for him, after years of will he-won't he be traded.

I dont know why so many around here are enamoured with Drew Stafford. Is it because he seems to play well whenever we play the sabres and he has some highlight reel goals against us? He's 25 years old and still yet to surpass the 50 point mark. He's alse one of the more inconsistant players in the league. I'd be very underwhelmed if Stafford is the main piece coming back in a Kaberle trade. Jokinen is also not a winger and would be a horrible fit on a line with Kessel.

This. Furthermore - no more trading within our own division. Burke is not that stupid. The Sabres don't have a Phil Kessel lying around so I HIGHLY doubt that Kabs will go to boston, buffalo, montreal, or ottawa. Secondly, he doesn't have a "no trade" clause for a period of time so we can go as far as Phoenix.

Atleast if we came up with more realistic trade senarios, thought more like Burke...I mean think about.. Kabs is speaking out against BB's buddy Wilson. Phoenix or Anaheim say Hi Thomas! Bye bye!

I would try for Bobby Ryan with Kabs...you might think that's far fetched but look what Burke has pulled off with the Phaneuf deal. It's evident Burke is still tight with the Ducks Brass...and still makes trades with them constantly.

Infact - the ducks might become our official trade partners...soon enough.... Kabs to the Ducks ....is like 75 to 80% going to happen in my books.

What else is he supposed to say? Just come out and say yeah, I hate Ron Wilson thats why I've given a half ass effort the last 2 months.

Kaberle is the last player from the old regime where players ran the team it was a country club and it shows with this garbage coming out in the media. Kaberle is right, he's played over 10 years in the league, so how about showing some damn effort, I don't care if he's upset at Wilson, you're getting paid millions so play your ass off. I can't wait to see him gone !

After aquiring Visnovsky (a very similar player to Kaberle) I see no way this happens. That team is ALOT of pieces away from being a legit contender. If they were going to ever deal Ryan it would make more sense to deal him for some top prospects, young players or picks.

how are you so sure about boston/buffalo/nj?

assuming your right, what could boston and jersey offer to equal or beat your proposed buffalo deal of stafford, butler, 1st?

i would be shocked if we traded with boston again for a while. we would basically want our draft picks back from them which i dont think they would give up. assuming we could get back the 2011 first, 2nd, and 3rd (not sure who has the 3rd at the moment) at least we can play the kessel game with the ducks and try to get ryan. if burke has this in mind then im game.

there isnt too much on jersey that interests me to be honest. im not completely sold on clarkson and i doubt lou would let him go anyways. tedenby seems a little small for burke and they gave their 1st to atlanta in the kovy trade so there isnt too much to excite here other then josephson (sp?).

i guess buffalo of your 3 guaranteed teams has the best to offer although i would try to get ennis in a deal with buffalo. i think hes gonna be legit.

FlareKnight 04-01-2010 12:18 PM

In the end my only response to the article is "who cares?" I mean if this came out near the deadline it might have been a subject for discussion. But at this point it's no longer in Kaberle's hands what happens over the summer. No matter what issues are there Kaberle just has to endure it until the season is over.

I agree with everything you said...thats why if you look at my previous post, I had Kaberle +.......I think Columbus would trade their first for Kaberle, so we would have to add to get them to include Filatov.

Im far from a Filatov fan, but I think he has a lot of potential that may not be reached in Columbus...Thats why they made trade him for a different prospect..
I would be willing to include a mid level prospect or 2 in order to receive Filatov as well..

Im just wondering what we would have to include with Kaberle to receive Filatov and their 1st...

They are loosing Niedermeyer to retirement--more than likely... Burke might be able to swing something ...

Wheeler, Hunwick, 1st is basically the same.

That Buffalo deal is basically a inconsistant 2nd line winger, a fringe defencemen and a late first round pick. Colour me unimpressed.

Why would they go out and aquire such a similar defencemen to someone they just traded for (Visnovsky). Yes Niedermayer will most likely retire but it makes no sense for them to give up Bobby Ryan for Kaberle. Trading him for a player like Luke Schenn is a entirely different story though.

Without looking at the Ducks roster for next year, i think they have very few defenceman signed and maybe one or two younger players ready to step in. Even if the Ducks have a puck moving D, Kaberle is still a top 2 D, and i'm sure there doesn't have to be a limitiation on how many puck moving offensive D a team can have. Whether it happens or not is a whole other thing, but the Devils did well with two puck moving D. IMO Kaberle could very well be traded, and IMO if Burke gets a high pick + for Kaberle, i wouldn't be suprised to see that pick head to the Hawks for an established top 6 winger and to aleiviate their cap issues and the Leafs get a proven to winger to help in the playoff drive.

Agreed. For some reason... I just see the Ducks being involved to maximize Burke's return for Kaberle. Maybe Bobby Ryan is a pipe dream...maybe not tho.. :naughty:

ULF_55 04-01-2010 12:52 PM

What is funny is that so many are claiming Kaberle is horrible and yet are looking for a good return on his trade.

If he's horrible don't expect anything more than a salary dump.
