Extra InformationDetroit Red Wings forward Dan Cleary developed instant chemistry on his new line with Darren Helm and Patrick Eaves in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers, as the trio combined for two goals.

They will try to maintain that over the last three games, including tonight at home against Columbus (7:30, FSN), when coach Mike Babcock is interested to see how Helm matches up against Samuel Pahlsson.

"The last time Pahlsson was in here I thought that was the best line for Columbus, gave us some trouble,'' Babcock said following today's morning skate. "They got people on and off the ice because he won faceoffs. Those are the kind of matchups (Helm's line) is going to draw at playoff time when we’re at home.

"That’s an important matchup, so see how Helmer does. Pahlsson has some miles on him. He knows how to play this game. He’s smart, he’s done a great job at playoff time. That’ll be a good test for Helmer.’’

Babcock said the only changes from the last game sees Andreas Lilja replacing Brett Lebda on defense and Jimmy Howard starting in goal.

Columbus coach Claude Noel said star forward Rick Nash's status will be determined at game time. Nash, the Blue Jackets' leading scorer, missed the last game with back and neck stiffness. If he plays, Johan Franzen will be assigned to check him, like he did in Detroit's 3-2 victory last week.

I predict 3-0 Wings with a Lilja hat trick.

Go Jimmy!

aar000n 04-07-2010 03:10 PM

I say 5-0 with a hat trick by helm

THW 04-07-2010 04:24 PM

12-0 with a hat trick by Howard...;)

ProPAIN 04-07-2010 04:35 PM

lol at the predictions. I say 20-0, with Babcock starting on Datsyuk's line and scoring 5. Beat that!

Anyways, it's been a while since I have seen a game which the Red Wings have won relatively easily. They could have done it against Edmonton, but then they decided that they wanted to go into "epic brain dead hockey" mode and let Edmonton actually get a ridiculous win.

How about a nice 7-0 or 8-1 crushing for once, huh? I mean the Capitals do it enough, why not us? Enough of these last second (literally) buzzer beaters. They are exciting, but enough is enough. I want to enjoy a game without ****ting my pants in OT or something.

Good luck Red Wings, win big for once!

aar000n 04-07-2010 04:43 PM

24-0 with howard having a hat trick. now beat that :handclap:

Kid Rock has 3 assist.
Aretha Franklin sings the national anthem and shuts out the BJ's with a 22 save performance.
Sunny Bono raises from the dead and scores 6 times.
Marvin Gaye is a healthy scratch and hears it through the grapevine.
Sgt. Slaughter fights Boll and finishes him with the "Slaughter Cannon"

edit: I think all these people are from Detroit.

cbjgirl 04-07-2010 04:56 PM

Would you mind changing the game title to the Red Wings versus the Columbus Crunch Jackets? Thanks ;)

Nash might be playing...

Back at Joe Louis Arena, the Jackets are preparing for their final road game of the season. They held a full practice and captain Rick Nash (back, neck stiffness) pronounced himself fit to play. Interim coach Claude Noel is cautiously optimistic, calling Nash a game-time decision. The Jackets will have Tom Sestito, up from Syracuse, at the ready in case No. 61 can't play.

If Nash is out, that would make 5 of the forwards Crunch players.

I think Russell is playing, he missed the last two games since Holmstrom smushed him into the boards.

There was a quote in the Dispatch this morning about how Babcock might be resting some of your players. I have no idea how this is going to turn out since Detroit really doesn't have anything to play for and the CBJ are playing a bunch of AHL guys.

(the worse we do, the higher the pick - go Islanders and Tampa and Florida)

Let's hope we win this one.

Go Wings!!!

YESSSS- I was SO worried someone would get to my mistake before me!!

It's ClitsomE, not Clitsom. Terrible name... Makes me giggle like a ten year old.

I have nothing exciting going on in my life, so I made my friends listen to the good luck music too.

Yes it is! Gave me goosebumps.. haha

Wings win 4-3. Just a hunch. Finally finished up all my constitutional law homework, I can relax watching the game! yay!:yo:

14ari13 04-07-2010 07:18 PM

If we win, we'll tie the Preds in points for the 5th place. And they play tonight vs the Coyotes.

It will be interesting to see, we are currently in the 7th place behind LA and Nash, but if we win ...

Go Wings!!!!

TheOtherOne 04-07-2010 07:32 PM

Come on guys at least my prediction was realistic. No one can imagine Lilja going on an epic tear? :sarcasm:

Anyone remember a while back when Nash would consistently destroy our whole team by himself? Yea that wasn't fun.
